Is there a verified fix for the Black/Blank Character Select Screen?

I've owned this game since 2013, and have never had this issue with it before on any computer I've ever installed it on. But just a month ago it downloaded some kind of small update, and ever since then my character select screen is nothing but a black screen, whereas every other portion of the game works with no issues.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, verifying game data, downgrading GeForce drivers, fiddling with graphics settings, trying mods, everything, and NOTHING WORKS. I'm at my wit's end with this! None of the threads about this issue on this forum have stated a working fix for this.

Is there ANY WAY to fix this? If there isn't, then I'm done with MK on Steam. I'll just play the console versions using emulators...

I finally fixed the problem: It was the video card. So I took it out and replaced it with an older one I had lying around.

So for future reference:
The video card that had all the issues was a NVIDIA GeForce GT 710.
I replaced it with a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT and now everything's fine.

There is a file called 3D well, more or less like this, I think that maybe it is the cause of the problem if it is not solved it is the video card (Try to find the file and look on youtube for the name of the file so that you download the crack, it could be that this file is damaged or something)
