How similar is this game to Dwarf Fortress?
Will it replace the Dwarf Fortress?

Nothing will ever replace dwarf fortress, its far too in depth for any game to touch it.

That being said it looks fun so far.

It's probably closer to Rimworld in scope and accessibility. So, like Rimworld, but dwarves, which sounds pretty good to be fair.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The video on the Steam page doesn't say anything about what the mid to end game is supposed to be. Between that and several Youtube first impression videos, I have only ever seen stuff that I do at the start of Dwarf Fortress before the fun happens, I literally have no idea what depth there is and why I should buy this.

It seems more like KeeperRL since dev said in another thread you can attack forts of other players.

If you drew a triangle and put Rimworld, Dwarf Fortress and Factorio on the corners, then this game is somewhere in the middle - further away from Rimworld than the others.

A chiller and more accessible DF, Factorio with dwarven labour instead of conveyor belts, with nicer Prison Architect type look to it. And as someone else has mentioned, in the future you could add KeeperRL as a fourth reference point when the dungeon-crawling mechanics are added.

Seems closer to One More Island from what I have seen so far.

Had to go look up that one... Some similarity at first glance certainly in that its a top-down colony builder that seems relatively chill. Can't say much more not having played it, although from the promo video I would say Mountaincore is noticeably nicer looking.

They do in the Steam version, I don't know about before.

Funny you should ask. Procedurally generated line-dancing has been a part of Dwarf Fortress for some years now.

Coo, learn something new every day! That would be more of a hoedown than a ball though?
