Edit: I forgot to post the link to the music-fix wad when I wrote this (see below.) The wad will not have music if you run it using zdoom all by itself.
https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=62802
This is what I meant by 'this wad' I just forgot to put the link in my post lol.
1. Steam install
2. Apply WAD fix
3. Copy over gzdoom and rename to dosbox
4. Copy over Neural Texture Pack and add it to launch command line.
By "WAD fix" what do you mean? I tried the one you had to write "patch" on DOSBOX but had no success.
1. Went to https://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/misc/ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/hexen/ and downloaded the dkpatch.zip
2. Extracted on the same directory with the wad (HEXDD.WAD) and dragged the PATCH.EXE to the dosbox.exe, making it run the patch directly.
3. DOSBOX opened and started patching the wad automatically. I suggest raising the DOSBOX's clock speed (hold Ctrl and press F12 to keep speeding up) so the process is finish faster. Some error msg about old file missing will appear but do not fret, it's not important.
As soon as I ran (through Steam btw), the midi files started playing on the first level.
Funny thing is that I didn't even need to reapply the Neural Texture but I think it's because I messed with the gzdoom.ini file to apply the mod again.
Hope this helps anyone in the future!
Lazy, lazy publishers not updating it.
