(Or maybe you're doing the classic move of posting about a drop and then, right after you post about it, you get the drop in the game. I've had that work too)
a choice for some, but not all.
some people are OCD and cannot leave a drop not found or a quest unfinished if they have the ability to finish it.
for these people, OoE is a horribly designed game, as the grinding system is absolutely terrible in this game. worst in the series
that could be said for all criticisms for all games and all preferences.
game is designed for grinding, the grinding system is BS. it's perfectly legit to criticize the design of the game's grinding system for people who want to grind.
to elaborate on this, you want the thief and/or fortune ring, preferably two of them. grinding in this game is actually a lot easier in the new game + by a longshot. fortune rings grant luck based on how long you've played the game. unfortunately though, the game will autopause if you leave it idle, so you can't just leave it on to strengthen the fortune ring, you gotta actually play. with fortune rings, you can have easily over 100 luck.
Still, in the castle I didn't need to farm him very long for the one ore drop (to complete my bestiary), but I did also have luck gear. Which is why I figured you were talking about the prison Tinman. The earliest way to earn it.
