Luck in Dawn of Sorrow
It's just so frustrating as someone who loves collecting in games.
Normally I would collect 9 of all Soul-drops, as they mostly also scale with the amount you have, but even getting a single of each is hell.

And just now I found a mod that fixes the Luck stat, but that mod only works on the 1.0.1 version of the game.

The hope that Konami ever fixes that stat is just about gone, so unless someone knows how to downpatch the game or where to find a working mod for the current version, I guess I'll just have to spend hours on hours farming the same enemies for a single drop.

Some observations: DoS is not a game where you are supposed to get 9 of every Soul, or even all Souls. It's designed to be based on ACTUAL luck, so every playthrough is different, with you using different souls. The mod didn't "fix" anything, it added a completionist element that it was never supposed to have.

I stopped trying to 100% games decades ago when I realized it was more fun to 95% 10 games than to 100% 1 game.

Your first problem is that this game is not Capcom.

That's a nice sentiment tbh, and I would absolutely not care as much, if it wasn't this game.
I got every soul as a child on my DS and want to do it again, but I remember how annoying it was. But you are absolutely correct that not always going for 100% is the better mentality in many cases.

Yea, Konami, my bad, I was just quickly typing this out and mixed it up.

Wow, getting 100% of Souls is pretty tough. You didn't max out all their levels too, right?

No, even as a child I didn't feel like farming every other enemy for hours.
I made sure to get 1 (at least) of each, and the couple souls I really liked I farmed to 9

I found this fix but I am not sure if it is safe to use? Ain't it basically like cheating to get the 100% achievement through that?

Wish m2 would have built-in a switch for fixing Luck so you can chose to play it the original DS way and with a fix like from the link .... Would love to see this in a future patch ... Maybe 2 different 100% achievements for with and without the fix would be nice too

Thank you for this mod. Wish I knew this issue sooner. It took me like 3 hours to get the Creature soul with 50+ luck stat (though I didn't use the Soul ring).

It's safe. I wouldn't dream of playing Dawn of Sorrow without it. If I had Advance Collection I'd mod Aria there too.

There's literally a tracker on the enemy screen that shows the total percentage of souls you've collected. They also did it in Minuet of Dawn. They definitely encourage players to collect as many as they can.

Think of it like Pokemon: Do they actually expect players to Catch 'Em All? In most cases, no; but they absolutely encourage it.

I meant more on a first playthrough. I'm assuming most people grind them in new game+.

I never grind for Souls without the Soul Eater Ring ,

I just got for a few, (got some memorized from the DS version) ,

Makes more since to get all Souls on New Game Plus, due to some Weapons need certain Boss' Soul to forge a Stronger one.

And for some reason, they remove Black Panther Soul, every New Game Plus playthrough, so always wind-up with 1 of em.
