Cursor issue in this game

Occasionally the cursor turns invisible while playing this game. I can kind of make out its location by the descriptions of the items shown underneath it while it's hovering over something, but it's making gameplay difficult. Also, when this happens, if I open the game menu, none of my keyboard keys or mouse buttons do anything and I have to alt+f4 to exit the game. I've tried all the go-to solutions: verified local files, enabled various compatibilities, ran as administrator... Nothing gets rid of this. Is there a fix?
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro.

I have this exact same problem, reallyannoying and makes it unplayable, I had this with another game and it went away when I finally (and with great difficulty) managed to reduce screen resolution but I can't see where I am with this one to do that.

Same problem on windows 10 for me. It's almost unplayable. This and no officiel french version, that begins to make a lot
