Tried everything to fix it to no avail.
Edit: Confirmed that the only thing that actually works is menu narration, everything else is mute which has now made things even more confusing for me.
After some digging I found numerous threads online which had the exact same issue across all platforms, PS5, Series X and the Uplay version. Looks like they didn't fix the Steam version with whatever hotfix they released for other platforms so we are the lucky few stuck with it until Ubisoft provide an update.
i would make sure you didnt check off any accessibility options when you first launched it and then see if there is a sound card selection option in settings like most gave have and just switch it to any option available and back to your sound card if you get any options for it, otherwise you might have to wait for a patch or someone to find a fix of their own.
Yes this worked for me!
After verify 5 files were missing and afterwards the game was being patched ~40gb. Sound is working!
Looks like this was the problem all along, thank you so much for your help mate it's all working properly now.
