Far Cry 6
Massive frame drops
After benchmarking and playing for about 30 mins the game will drop to 5-10 fps for no reason and needs to be restarted.

Has anyone found any fixes or reasons for this? This is a similar bug from Far Cry 5

Encountered that before , turning off HD Textures on the menu fixed on my end , I've max all settings and have not experienced that again. Ryzen 9 4900H /rtx 2070 ..:batsymbol:

yep I get this too, 15 - 25fps as soon as I past the Blue Trail tutorial on the beach, its also when the map activates to see the whole world, it was smooth 60 - 70 for me until I got to this

I want the HD Textures so I will wait for a fix to continue playing

The fix is having more VRAM. It's not something that's going to be updated or changed. HD textures use more VRAM.

I dont know that it is, I have a 3080 10GB and experience this same issue, about 3.5GB overhead per the in game gauge, and it seems to clear up after going to main menu. It can almost always be replicated by leaving the workbench or cutscenes. feels more like a memory leak than anything TBH

This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ man! I'm using an RTX 3070 8gb VRAM and 32gb RAM. I put the whole game on Ultra and with all Raytracing enabled and run the benchmark, the result is 75-69 FPS. The game flows perfectly until, at certain times (accessing the inventory, service workbench, horse menu and some cutscenes) the FPS drops dramatically to the point of being between 5-7 FPS. This, DEFINITELY, has NOTHING to do with the amount of VRAM, but with a beautiful mess they made in the game and until now, a year and a half later, NOTHING has been resolved. Now, I can't even ask for a refund, because I spent time trying to resolve this crap.

I think we have to just take it that the HD texture pipeline has been broken in some way (I remember this bug in Far Cry 5 so it's at least one game old) and Ubisoft don't care to fix it.

And yeah, had I not spent time fixing this I would have probably just refunded it. It's just first person Wildlands

Damn! I didn't have this problem with FC5, I guess I was lucky.
LOL! True, apart from the jerry-rig and companions, it really reminds Wildlands.
...I guess that's why I wanted to play this game so much. I love Wildlands...

In Nvidia Control Panel, turn off Trilinear Optimization and Threaded Optimization. This helped with the stuttering for me.

Oddly enough it just makes the bug happen instantly with me and the game stutters at 5-10 fps as soon as it starts. Worth a try though, thanks!

I'm having the same problem you all are having.
Game runs fine until I open the map or inventory or even playing for 15-20 mins straight after that FPS tanks to single digits.
Have ryzen 9 5900x and rtx 3070 with 32 gigs ram
Also have FC5 on steam that game runs flawlessly with everything set to high and with HD textures.
I have tried every possible fix that I found on the different forums.

Yea exact same issue I described with the same GPU, I keep DXR effects off though

But yea its not a VRAM / HD Texture issue its a Cut Scene specific mission area issue

Alrighty so - I did more research, and the HD Texture pack DOES require 12GB - 16GB minimum VRAM (16GB if running 4k)

Would think that with all of the other detailed descriptions of video settings they provide for other settings that they would put a big ol fat warning on this one:

https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/help/far-cry-6/connectivity-and-performance/article/downloading-the-hd-texture-pack-for-far-cry-6/000099142#:~:text=Please%20note%20that%20the%20minimum,encounter%20performance%20issues%20while%20playing.
I'm inclined to say vram is probably the likely culprit from the sounds of it. I got a 3060 wuth 12gb of vram recently because they were going at a reasonable price. I've had zero issue.
Okay, it's strange to go into this merit that whoever has more memory is right (even though it appears in the Ubisoft article that, by the way, should be IN THE GAME). Well, here's the thing, what EVERYONE here is wondering about is the fact that the HD texture pack doesn't affect performance right away, it does after certain triggers. Most of us here, even though we don't have 12gb, passed the game's benchmark pretty well and started playing perfectly fine and after a few moments or triggers, the game freaked out. There is still one factor to be considered, as I said in my first post, I tested EVERYTHING I had on the net as a possible solution, including trying to play WITHOUT the HD texture pack, with raytracing off and EVERYTHING on LOW. and the FPS rose from 5 - 8 to 13 - 15. That is, this game is FUBAR!
...but I'm hoping that some modder or saint will save us at some point. -_-
