I do feel the game has occassional moments that fit more with a female protagonist when it comes to story moments. I'm going to complete this playthrough, but kind of regretting picking female at the moment.
I wouldn't say so. We must be honest with ourselves and the truth is that almost every game that allows you to switching between genders has a 'best' gender for playing. In my opinion, in this game, it's the female. And no, I'm not feminist, LGBT fan or someone else, but for me Dani's voice and her performance are one of the best things that this game has.
Even in almost all trailers, the version of Dani that is present is female. This game has many mission that don't feel as immersive with the male gender as they do with a female one. For example mission where we drinking with Bicho. In the end, there is a cutscene in which Dani reveals their destiny to the Bicho. I saw this cutscene in both version, female and male, and I'd say that this cutscene works better with the female version. And there is a lot of examples as this one.
So yeah, you can play in gender what you want, but for me female version always would be better than the male one in this game. Sometimes, it even feels like the actor who voices male Dani is just reading from a script rather than truly acting out the emotions.
Whether you can be a male depends only and entirely on whether you are a male. You are not a fictional character, and you can not be.
I just hope that they stop making wanky characters and expressing wanky sentiments because of their wanky collective social brown-nosing sooner or later.
You can chose a male character. But you'll lose any sense of immersion when you realise the game has virtue signalling boss girls everywhere. Pretty much every leadership role is a woman, your guerrilla army, you guessed it, at least 50% are woman, maybe more (makes sense right). Be prepared to hear about the "expense of top surgery in Yara" and be lectured by vegan lesbians. This is top tier woke Ubislop.
I agree, we need one body with two heads. The male head and the female head on one body. They can both be in the game.
All this choosing nonsense needs to stop in video games. You don't need to choose from six protagonists in a game, put their six heads on one body.
You cannot play as a trans or any other member of the LGBTQ+ crowd, nor can you choose your pronouns.
There is however plenty of woke crap in the game to make snowflakes happy.
