How to set up HDR?
I am confused by the HDR settings of Far Cry 6. I have to move peak HDR all the way to 4000 to get a somewhat acceptable picture, and my monitor sure does not produce 4000 nits. At the 400 nits my monitor produces does it look worse than SDR.

I also could not find an option to turn AutoHDR off for this game. Windows has a setting for this in Settings->System->Display->Graphics for Far Cry 5, but Far Cry 6 does not show. So I am not even sure if this is the game's fault or if Windows is messing with it.

Has anyone yet tried using RTX HDR with Far Cry 6? Does this work better?

What is people's opinion on HDR in Far Cry 6 and how do you set this up properly?

I just started playing this yesterday, for a short while. I did play a little of it at release, but I remember nothing. I have a 4090, and an LG OLED 4k TV as my monitor. I set the HDR at 500, and turned white balance up a tiny bit from default. It's plenty bright, and sunrise/sunset is blinding and causes eye strain. I do NOT like that part of the game. This bright orange filter over everything. I cannot imagine setting it upwards of 4000 nits. Maybe it's the OLED? But if I set it higher than 600, details get washed out and there really is no point.

I know I'm not helping, but I'm curious about what other's suggest.

No, you are helping. What you have described matches my expectation of how it should work, and for me it did not do this. So this might be caused by Windows or something else. I already tried disabling AutoHDR completely, but the game always renders in HDR whether I set it on or off in the game. This was not the case with Far Cry 5 and also is not the case with my other games. Anyway, thanks for your reply.

Not all games - hardware do HDR as intended, Sadly there is no standard. I run 4k . I just set my monitor for the best blacks. not a fan of grey! And then just push or pull the brightness -gamma in the game if it has it. And leave it at that. Then play, leave the unstandardized stuff for others to waste their time on.

I have had more 4k's then then some have had dress pants. Been with them since release in the USA. Even ran ultra wide with them - yes 3 , was just too big, went back to a single

You can see some ultrawide screen shots in my profile game pics , been PC gaming a very long time, Best ultra wide was on 3 28" not too big . And 4k res ultrawide is 11520x2160. YA TOO BIG! neck gets sore looking left and right so much. "BUT" ultrawide doe's bring some games to another level "if" the game supports it. I sort of miss it.
