Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6

Ubisoft needs to fire or reassign some people.
Specifically from the map making department.

Esperanza city is an incomplete mess. Large sections of the city are just placeholders to hide the fact that they never completed it.

And... I'm not sure about anyone else. But I got tired of the concept of 'invisible walls' a LONG time ago. Try to swim across the wrong stretch of water? Can't get out of the water. Try to head directly to a location in an open area, but not approach it from the pre-designed direction? Nothing but suddenly indestructible gates, unscalable cliffs and other similar obstacles. This is a practice from Farcry THREE, and it sucked then, enough to make me avoid even exploring because why bother if the devs themselves want to keep me out of those places that much? It has no place in the sixth version of the game.

Now, I understand that at least in the case of Esperanza, the rushed end result was probably some higher ups decision based on a faster release. But it's such a DUMB THING TO DO. If you are going to design an open world game, short of not letting players go beyond the borders of said world, make it all open to traversal. Maybe make it varying levels of challenging, but ALWAYS make it possible.

And please, for the love of your own income stop ALMOST making games. Sure some people are dumb enough to pay full price for your games as they are, but those people are getting less and less willing as you raise your prices more and more. If I hadn't gotten this game at 75% off, I would never have gotten this game, and I LIKE the Farcry series. Imagine trying to get new players to play something this busted at full price in the future, or any of your other games with the track record of half baking the worst games you can manage for over a decade.

....ok, rant over. Just needed to vent a little after playing this game that I alternate constantly between hating and sorta enjoying. I just want to enjoy it without wanting to scream every few minutes. Is that really too much to ask?

For Ubisoft it definitely is. We might not like it but what they lack in design or time to finish the job they can make up for with marketing because there are still enough people that pay full price. Yes, they're getting less and Ubisoft isn't really doing well but I'm pretty sure they're gonna sell the company before they change anything.
