What the hell happened with this franchise ?

This game has, by far, the worst writing in the series.

Now, none of the games in the franchise are known for their great writing, but Far Cry 6 makes Far Cry 5, 4, 3 and 2 feel like they were written by Shakespeare. The dialogue is atrocious and the worldbuilding is VERY lackluster. It's clear to me that the folks who wrote Far Cry 6's story have no idea how dictatorships actually operate.

Far Cry 6 also romanticizes revolutions to a comical degree. I wonder how many of the devs involved in making this game played Far Cry 4, which had a FAR more plausible and nuanced take on overthrowing dictatorhips through revolutions.

It seems to me that the writers were more worried about using Far Cry 6 as a platform to convey their ideas and opinions about certain political topics instead of trying to tell a somewhat decent story.

Also, the shooting mechanics, somehow, feel inferior to Far Cry 5, and enemies feel like bullet sponges. The way the cover mechanics work in this game is terrible. The Destiny-style mission briefing screens also look and feel awful, and the Borderlands-esque splash screens that appear every time a new character is introduced look terrible.

Last but not least, if a game is going to use 170GB of space, then I demand to be blown away by its visuals. That wasn't the case. Far Cry 6 is by no means an ugly-looking game, but its visuals are not really great either. I'd argue it's inferior to a lot of other games that use less disk space and came before it (like Red Dead Redemption 2, for example).

Now that someone mention about horrendous level of Pandering writing for Far Cry 6, i do believe these things also affect Legacy Character in 2 out of 3 DLC, Pagan is now Bisexual with daddy issued (Called me Bigot if you want, this is another case of Legacy character being retcon be more represent for the Alphabet group in Modern Media), Vaas make so much Ironic self aware Joke + Cultural Reference that if it wasn't for Mando level of acting this direction would be pain to watch, Thanks To Micheal 's Insight we know that Vaas is still a child in his own mind so he often made Childish Joke But here's a Question i'm going ask you IF Vaas is an Native Islander whose grew up some time in the 80s whose child hood is rob to be part of a Bloodlust Native according to wiki fandom how is he keep Joking like a Millennial who spent all his time on Video Game and TV Show ? Joseph it's the most stay true to the established thanks to amount of character building for 5 that has been done by prior Entry Writer so they cannot stick thier dirty finger on to him. Edit: Daddy Issued is highlighted one more time once you Completed and Earned his DLC's Rewards, you know they are proud of rewriting thier own personal problem into other already establish characters, this is what's been plauging Comic Book industry.

it went downlhil real fast after far cry 5 ... Sadly the last far cry i would ever play will be 5 ... was a good trip i would say with great games . but i cant take even 1% serious the story characters and direction of this game. its like they were all made by some intern working for ubisoft

Because most of the veteran staff left and new staff were hired as replacements and not only based on merit. Hence why the tone and writing drastically shifted.

The writing actually is designed to parody the type of people who cry about inclusivity. Mission accomplished. You definitely felt it.

in short, over the past few years, Ubisoft started to implement every game similar to the "The Division", so every game was stripped from its original identity and fun parts have been taken out and got "Divisioned".

so their strategy was to focus on divisioning all games and less time focusing on writing, missions designs, characters,.... so we got all of these garbage games that are basically the same and boring as hell.

However, recently they have been very quiet and they seem to be listening to the community especially after the poor sales of this game and GR:Breakpoint drama, so we can only hope for a strong comeback for each franchise, for certain, AC:Mirage will get back to its roots and i hope for other games to follow the same.

You can't compare game size with RDR 2. Because RDR 2 NPC reaction are realistic with small detail environments.
FC 6 are trash, I hate this game and never play it after 5 hours in Uplay version, the graphics ok it's good but the gameplay destroy all FC series.
Level system like enemy, weapon, skills and clothes stuff all have level, I stop play FC 6 because RPG/FPS I hate this genre. You can't stealth kill with headshot to high level enemy in FC 6, this total different with FC 5 where the enemy not have level, you can headshot with sniper.

Don't buy FC 6, forget about FC series.

New generation are lazy developer and focus to money. The developer make new series with different gameplay, hope gamer like RPG/FPS buy FC 6 and some gamer like FPS buy FC 5.

I noticed that too.

Ubisoft could pull an EA and start making decent single player games without microtransactions, but I highly doubt that will happen.

Yeah, because complaining about something you paid for somehow makes you a "hyperbolic princess". You just have to "consoom" and shut up, right ?

Also, I didn't say anything about any trans character at all. I'm not against putting trans characters in video games. However, I am against poor writing and bad game design decisions in games I pay for.

Like I said earlier, while none of the games in the franchise have particulary great writing, Far Cry 6's writing is abysmal even when compared to previous installments. The guerrilas in Far Cry 6 just plain suck. Then there's also the way the game glorifies revolutions, which is bizarre, and kinda makes me miss how Far Cry 4 portrayed how a revolution plays out.

The Game in the nutshell is this a bunch of Revolution Group that all has Women as Comander while men are worthless or cannon fodder, Your main character who help turn the tide of Revolution is canon to be Woman, Women in this game all act like men but not just dude actually Tough Girl Boss (not shocking for Modern day), a Whole Strand of Missions that revolt around Trans dude and His struggle as Trans, The Game Treating killing people who know how to run a country as tyrant while they themself just want to kill and free out of so called oppression without any consideration for the people they Claimed to fight for if they WON. Yeah either you want to feed into those Narative on internet or you just here to troll. As For the case of Far Cry 6 Story Narative is far worse than any before entries, so why bring up your own unrealated point of Far Cry plot have always the same for, this game is Far Cry 4 but written in one dimension, all other Far Cry in the main entry all have nuanced to them and how a story is told, not this hot garbage. Edit: in the original Far Cry 4 one of the Commanders is a Woman that have exploited Past due to her own culture so she hate it so much that she would used what the Tyrant King have been doing to Ran the Country once the dust is settle to solve the question of what to do once they Won and Payback said Culture, Ofcourse once you won the fate of the Country is more fleshed out than 6.

Honestly, I just wish it felt like you were accomplishing something. Maybe I've just played too many of these games but the gold standard for me is The Saboteur. That actually felt like the more parts of the map you took over the more you could see things start to crumble. I keep taking over roadblocks, bases, etc.. and just feel blah. Even taking over rival gang territory in Saints Row 2 felt better. I think this may be the last of this franchise I end up buying.

seems pretty much like the same old Farcry to me writing wise. I never played primal or 4 though so maybe the writing in those was off the charts that this just seems like a let down , can't imagine that's the reason though.
I like the villains and setting of 5 better. I like the whole crazy religious zealot and the cult atmosphere better than a dictator. But the dialogue between people seems par for the course in farcry world.
Ya not sure what is so abysmal about the writing in this game.
