Sincerely, someone who knows how to look at the bottom half of their screen to see an update has happened.
It is not an early access title!!!
The Subscription is way too expensive and only "cheap" if you don't forget to quit it after the first or second month.
They could have done something like season pass, where all former DLCs are included, so that you have to pay like 10 Dollar/Euro for base game and 30 Dollar/Euro per year and get all DLCs included. So you could subscibe to that or you buy the game and/or pass as you like to play. Would be fair to everybody and even PDX would earn maybe more money that way, because more people would play. How it is now, they loose player base.
My guess is that eu4 is unable to save the settings. Mapmodes, game settings, video settings and if hints and introduction messages are activated is saved in "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/settings.txt". Do you have that file? If you have it, you can try to remove it and see if it gets recreated and if some setting which you changed is stored there(e.g. if you change the "Multisample Level" it would change the number in the line "multi_sampling=").
One possible cause would be a ransomware protection software or an antivirus with a ransomware protection component which blocks eu4 from writting the settings.txt (e.g. the old game version was allowed, but with the update eu4.exe changed and you have to allow it manually).
- If you have Windows Defender(also called Microsoft Defender), add the launcher and eu4 to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list(here[docs.microsoft.com] are instructions for that).
- If you have bitdefender, add the launcher and eu4 to the list of ransomware exceptions and "give it access" to "protected files".
- If you have avast, you have to add the launcher and eu4 to the allowed list in the ransomware shield
The executable for the launcher version would be "C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.2/paradox launcher.exe".There would have been just one right choice: Stop working on EU4, roll it back to version 1.26 and then make EU5 with all that stupid ideas that came after 1.26.
No wonder my achievements are broken.
It is because they didn't give any information about rolling out 2 patches in a row. So the 1.30.5 is called rollback. And not everybody is knowing what version the game is (because it is not an early access title where the version should matter). I also rolled back to 1.30.5 because of that.
