Ottoman Vassals
Playing as Ottomans on ironman, and it's still around 1500.

I've conquored much of the balkans through sneaky diplomacy, and joining wars. I've liberated Ukraine from Poland and Lithuania, purely because I could. (They offered peace at 15%, but I continued until 100%. Crimea started it too.) And I have vassalised Iraq Trebizond and Ramazan.

But that's where it got weird.

After being invited to war about 4 time by my allie Aq Qulonyu, I dominated the enemy in all 4 wars, Iraq, Trebizond, and Qara Qulonyu respectively.

Seeing as Aq Qulonyu was the war leader, they mad epeace each time, but they made Trebizond and Iraq my vassal. Naturally I was pleased and surprised. But why have they done this? They took no reward but some ducats.

Perhaps they trust me and see me as a protector? Or, seeing as their opinion of me is very high, but still threatened, perhaps they're appeasing me, Chamberlain/Hitler style?

I find this quite a good feature in gameplay, if itis indeed an intended feature.

Opinions would be excellent, as I wondered if anyone had encountered this.

I'll certainly be answering to every call to arms from Aq Qulonyu, I'll probably annex them later.

Thanks

Edit- Turns out part of the Peace Treaty with Iraq included the anullment of all my treaties with Aq Qulonyu. So, essentially, they strengthened a non-allie. Seems a bit illogical.

You're limited in peace deals - if the Ottomans were the ones who conquered Iraq, for example, then Aq Qoyunlu can't give Iraq to themselves.

When you say that, it makes sense. It's a far safer bet for Iraq to be a vassal than to be my province.

I love it when Turkish rebels rise up randomly and are allied to me though. They're currently attacking Aq Qulonyu's rear, whilst it is in a war with Persia.

Thanks anyway :D

Edit - It happened again, exactly the same, but with Georgia :D Essentialy I'm expanding with little negative effects.
