Game runs really slow

hi i just bought eu4 and im starting to get the hang of it. im only on my fist playthrough and the game runs wicked slow even at speed 5 and im not even 20 years into the damn thing. any fixes?

Nothing you do will change the speed. You can turn off all optional settings, allocate more CPU power to hte game, play in lower res, defrag your cpu to death, close all other processes, whatever you want. When i bought the game, I expected it to run as smoothly and as quickly as CK2, Victoria2 and EU3, it does not. The only thing I can fault this game on is its ♥♥♥♥ running speed. And how about at the start of each month? Takes so long to process the first day. Dont bother asking on hte paradox forums either, they will either say your CPU is ♥♥♥♥ or you are simply trolling. I wouldnt even bother emailing Paradox, you will be ignored (Trust me, I know.)

All we can do is hope in a future patch they do something to speed the game up. Don't hold your breath though.

Not having any problems. Game runs fast and smooth. You could try a lower resolution and turning some things like shadows off.

Have you tried lowering the settings? Also disable V-Sync, AA and everything else to the lowest settings.

EDIT: I suspect it's your CPU. You know the speedbar, on fast the game runs in-game? Don't speed it up to the 4th or 5th bar or your computer might crash. Just live it at 2 or 3.

alright it seems to be a little bit better i was just worried that i wouldnt be able to play this game event though i paid for it, anymor suggestions on how to make it run faster ill glady take and thanks to the the people that commented

Your processor is not even suitable for this game when it first came out I wouldnt think never mind now. You should upgrade to a better motherboard and at least a 6 chip processor. And your RAM should be at least 12Gb these days. Your card is also well below spec. You could probably upgrade your processor to a Ryzen 5 (min spec for today), new motherboard, 12Gb RAM and get a 2nd hand graphics card for £350 and run the game and others far better.

Moving up to Windows 10 as well wouldnt hurt.

You have to keep up with technology if you want to game.
