You could also check the swedisch flavor events.txt in your EU4 folder. There are a few events which will lead to the end of the Kalmarer Union in a historical way. But you have to wait allmost 100 years.

You're probably going to be outnumbered with both Denmark and Norway against you, so make sure to make good use of river crossings. Try to force them to attack you over one, that'll give you a huge boost. Having a great general helps too, of course. When I did it I just tried to outlast them. I didn't bother invading them at all, since the objective for the Independence Casus Belli is to just hang on to your capital. As the war drags on, you gain warscore as long as you still have your capital. Just try to hold them off until the warscore gets high enough to get independence.

I waited 40 years or so with breaking the union. I saved up a good amount of money, maxed my army, dropped maintenance on my naval and put them in Stockholm port. Then I stationed my 2 armies in småland and västergötland to back eachother up. Meanwhile as the war went on I hired mercenaries when preassure went high. I let Norway siege a few parts of northern Sweden but didnt give ground to Denmark. Had to retreat a few times to Stockholm but it went rather smooth.

Might have forgotten some though,

I waited about 15-20 years. Made sure I had about 12 Early Carracks to keep Denmark armies pinned on their islands. Used a few mercs to boost my main army while it crushed Norway's main army than disbanded mercs. Meanwhile I had 6 regiments, divided in two's, siege Denmark's three provinces around Skane.

Taking all Danish provinces around Skane, crushing the Norway army a few times and taking their capital will net you a couple of provinces in the peace deal. You can even bait Denmarks army off of their capital and onto a southern island if you need to take their capital for a higher war score.

Just don't be afraid of using mercs for the initial push and to go into debt and above all else win the naval war. Having Denmarks armies invading you is a sure way to lose manpower, more coin and maybe even the war.
