2. Everyone has access to the same cannons.
3. Did you forget to increase your military maintenence when the war started? The low morale of min maintenence will result in your armies getting stomped. Seems to be a common mistake.
2. I kind of doubt that's correct. I don't remember the exact name of his cannons, but they have Dehli in their name. My next military tech level, which would put me at the same level as his, does not upgrade my cannons.
3. No I always remember to increase military maintenence when wars start. My units have trouble beating stacks 1/4th their size without max payment. He does have much higher prestige than me though, since the war started at a pretty bad time and I had just gotten a negative event that gave me -33 prestige (ouch!), so admittedly morale is giving him a crazy bonus. Morale seems to be incredibly important in this game. I'm not sure exactly how combat works in that regard....
3. Morale, Generals, and Discipline are VERY important in combat. As Prussia with super high discipline, good general, and morale, I can beat 30k stacks from France with my 20k stacks, and they're only one tecjh level behind in military.
Also, some countries, and iirc, the Ottomans are one of them, get national ideas that increase fighting capabilities for unit categories. So if they have that, plus say, Quality military ideas, then thier infantry (or in Ottomans case, Calvary) is THAT much better than yours.
Unrelated, what is "luck"? It seems the Ottomans have a substantial "luck" bonus in a great many things, including fort defense and trade power. They've had it for a very, very long time, so I rather doubt that it's a random event. Is this a natural bonus to the Ottomans?
Also lucky nations does give a modifier for revolt risk, so that could explain why you are not seeing rebels, although it is only a modifier of -1. Of course the difficulty you are playing on, could increase said modifier. Side note, you also can not turn lucky nations off if you are playing ironman mode for achievements.
That's how my last Ottoman game was decimated, I controlled all of the middle East, Balkans, and most of Italy, but I tried to invade Muscovy (to take Moskva for the achievement) and lost so hard that the rest of the world saw their opportunity to take back lost lands.
