If you're a maniac, of course.
lol I'm betting they doubling down on the front system trying to prove they took "wars" in the right direction by making things obtuse and hands off.
We've got over 50 dev diaries on EU5 already. Here are the ones on warfare:
Armies and Combat: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/tinto-talks-22-24th-of-july.1696537/
Logistics: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/tinto-talks-23-31st-of-july.1697510/
They are not doing fronts. (which btw are already anachronistic for a good chunk of the Victoria timeframe, so i let you imagine how wrong frontlines in EU4 would be).
"They" aren't making EU5. The team that did Victoria 3 is completely different from the Tinto studio under Johan. He's said many times, in many different places, that Tinto won't follow the hands-off warfare approach because he strongly dislikes it and thinks it's wrong for the genre.
The dev diaries that aloup linked will give you an idea of how EU5 combat will work. Spoiler: it's VERY much like EU4.
Somewhere, a child born August 13, 2013: "...this guy considers me outrageously old..."
You know what's outrageously old? World of Warcraft.
Finally somebody honest.
Reviews will probably mention something along the lines 'While EU5 has infinite possibilities, the mechanics, barebones mission design and AI of the game don't hold up to par. We recommend sticking with EU4 until Paradox can improve on these."
