Family tree?
Is there a tab in this that shows you your portrait and that of your wife/husband and other family members?

No pointless, just missing. Imperatius like family tree would be good to have.

Only vaguely useful for dynastic governments, and not even all monarchies are that. Your average republic, theocracy, horde, and tribe will have no use for such a thing. Also, it would need to change every time your dynasty and/or government form does. Far too much work for far too little payoff.

Not to mention which by WWI all the royal familes in Europe were related which my help to explain why so many of them were feckless idiots which would explain why so many of them were willing to engage in a war that could gain them almost nothing but could and did cost them everything including in the case of the Romanov's there lives.

Simultaneously both right.

Family trees would be helpful. Maybe not to the extent of CK3 but just a simple family tree would be wonderful or a box that tells you the relation between various monarchs. Not useless. Just missing.

But ultimately yes. Its a pretty niche thing that ultimately would be more work than would be helpful. Every lost hour that is spent in coding a family tree that isnt even useful in many playthroughs is a lacking mission tree for a nation, missing events, decisions and one less country that has a rework and overhaul.

It would be flavor I guess, but little to no practical value. EU4 doesn't rely on dynastics the way CK does.

The OP asked for something to show "your portrait and that of your wife/husband". That would just result in an empty picture, because you play a nation(or its spirit) which does not have a portrait. And even if you would show a portrait of your ruler and his consort and heir, they would just be random images, because eu4 does not track the genealogy. It does not know if the heir is a blood relative of the ruler or not, so it does not know which characters should look similar. And because it does not track the family, it could not show any other family members and showing a family tree with for three people would not offer anything of value.

Thanks, I had Crusader Kings in mind when I posted this but now realise how it doesn't fit with E 🙂

I hope EU5 atleast lets me see my leader, would help for immersion if notbing else considering their traits do effect the gameplay and in some nations you change leadership pretty often

that's one of the things I hope for EU5
