The Iberian Wedding
I'm playing as Castile and was wondering what conditions the world has to be in for the event to trigger.. Anyone know?

and if you cant read that , like alot of people, it needs to be between 1450 and 1500, either both countries have a leader who are of opposite gender, or aragon a regency. they need to neighbour and not be at war, and aragon needs to be ai.

Thank you! That was exactly what I needed, but what would the chances of the opposite gender ruler thing be? Because my game is at about 1500 and I'm starting to worry...

I'm 2 for 2 so far on my Castile games. On the first, I had the historical Isabel as my ruler to trigger it, and on the second there was a female ruler for Aragon even earlier. If you're really set on forming Spain diplomatically, you could presumably change the gender of either ruler by editing the save game. Just open it with any text editor, Ctrl-F to find "human=yes" to find your country, then page down to find your current ruler in the history log. You could do something similar to edit Aragon's ruler, but it's not as easy to find AI countries' entries. The best way I know is to Ctrl-F to find "capital=###" where ### is the province ID of their capital.

Thanks brainiac, the year is 1522 and there is some triumph because like you, Isabel is next in line for the throne and as far as it seems, Aragon wont have a queen in a while...
Anyway thank you for your input anyway, it may help me in the future maybe making mods for Europa Universalis IV :)

howabout if castile took provinces from Aragon and gave them to its vassal navarra? i never get it to trigger, even though both ruler and heir is of opposite gender (aragon females and castile males..) I see alot of posts around that says that this event triggers often, it hasnt triggered for me once and i have played castile over and over again for quite some time now.. this kinda has to trigger to even have a chance at breaking France early to get a better shot at the whole world achievement..

I had an Iberian Wedding in 1461 playing 1.12 as Castile (back in June 2015), but did not get Isabel until 1496 (age 20) and I still had her in 1551 (age 76). Unfortunately the saved games did not work with Extended Vanilla Experience (EVE) which I wanted to switch to for the Tenth Idea. Meanwhile I vassalized and integrated Portugal and grew like a cancer in the New World. Formed Spain in 1510s when I could get Admin TL 10 and not pay any costs to integrate Aragon. Did not get Naples unfortunately.
In my new game (using EVE) I am trying to ally, marry, and support Bergundy, while hoping for the Iberian Wedding. If I can cut Austria down in size (less than 6 provinces) as HRE Emperor or make them lose the emperorship, I might be able to inherit Burgundy, but it is only 1451 and the game is barely started. Just keeping Austria from getting Burgundy, so far, has made them much weaker than usual. All in all, much different than my usual Castile experience. If I can't inherit Burgundy, maybe I can keep them as a strong ally and try to keep them alive past 1500, when the Burgundy Succession event will stop firing. A strong living allied Burgundy means a much weaker France and Austria, both highly desirable to Castile/Spain.
It looks to me like your (our) best hope for the Iberian Wedding is a Aragon regency, since you can not depend on getting opposite gender Monarchs and/or Heirs for Castile and Aragon. Leaving Aragon alone with no wars to lose prestige in is Castile's best hope at getting Naples via the Iberian Wedding, otherwise Naples will be independent before the Wedding happens. Plus a strong living Burgundy allied to Castile can change northern Italy a lot, particularly in Venice versus Austria (part of keeping Austria weak). Now if I can just marry and ally Savoy for help against both France and Austria! I wonder if I can get the Burgundy dynasty to change to mine without triggering the Succession? I doubt it, but it is another unlikely possibility.
Question, does Aragon still having Naples in a Personal Union have any affect on the chances of the Iberian Wedding happening? It is worth thinking about and watching for. Does the relative size and power of Castile and Aragon have any affect on the Iberian Wedding chances, particularly the conquest of Granada and status of Navarra? I have always had Granada taken care of whenever I got the Wedding event.

Those are the conditions (re near top of this thread) to be satisfied, but how does chance, i.e.die rolls or random numbers, come into triggering the event?

what do you mean shoki?

How do I save a copy of info above to a file on my computer, so I can keep it for future refence?
DarthJarJar Jul 16, 2015 @ 2:46am
Just copy and paste it...

War has always a chance killing the ruler early, putting Aragon in a regency.. Also it's easy to crush France early on, just fight with Portugal, Austria and England (well the AI sucks at England..^^) on your side against them. I'm at about 1500 in my new game with England and France is only 10 provinces big now.
