Europa Universalis IV Gold Edition
What is included in this? I rarely play EUIV because I am waiting for the opportunity to buy up all the DLC's and Expansion Packs [and I am too wrapped up in CKII] but I want to buy it for a friend as a present. It seems that it is only on Amazon and not on Steam. What is the difference between this and whats on offer on Steam?

What DLC and expansion packs are included?

The one I found on Amazon has this:
Europa Universalis IV Gold Edition Includes:

Europa Universalis IV, Europa Universalis IV Pre-Order Pack, Europa Universalis IV Call to Arms Pack, Europa Universalis IV American Dream, Europa Universalis IV National Monuments II, Songs of the New World and Songs of Yuletide.
So the base game, none of the expansions, 2 of the 3 minor flavour packs (Purple Phoenix in the Pre-order pack, and American Dream), and a couple cosmetical DLCs (unit sprites, music, etc).
Note that the last one, Songs of Yuletide, is free anyways.

I found it for 26.99€ on Amazon, at this price you're much better off buying it on a Steam sale.

I found it for 22.99 sterling on Amazon UK. It said 16 DLCs.

Seems to be the same, yeah. They arrive at 16 DLCs because the packs are made up of 2-3 individual DLCs each.

It's still a good price compared to the base prices, but with how often EU4 goes on sale I can't really recommend it, especially since this collection lacks all the main expansions.

which are the main packs?

Art of War, Conquest of Paradise, Res Publica, and Wealth of Nations.
Unlike most of the CK2 expansions they don't unlock any new playable nations or anything like that though.

Art of War is probably the most generally useful ones, since it includes a lot of improvements for various aspects of the game, but the others each focus on certain mechanics and/or nations and add to them.
Just gonna copy what I wrote about the others in another thread:
The other DLCs all focus on certain mechanics or nations, so wether or not they are a "must" completely depends on where and how you play.

Res Publica is the smallest expansion and focussed mostly on the Netherlands and Poland/the Commonwealth and their unique government forms. Also has some general stuff for republics and the "National Focus", allowing you some influence on the power points you get (+2 of one group, -1 for the two others).

Wealth of Nations mostly focusses on trade, introducing things like trade companies for Africa and Asia, a diplomatic request to transfer trade power, or the ability to send you light ships on privateering missions.
Also greatly enhances the mechanics of the Reformed Christian and the Hindu religions.

And Conquest of Paradise adds a ton of new mechanics for the North American tribes, as well as a bit for native tribes in other parts of the world.
Also gives the option to randomize the New World for a new colonizing experience.

There are also some smaller flavour packs: Purple Phoenix for Byzantium, Star and Crescent for Muslims in general, and American Dream for the USA. Each of those adds some new events etc. I think they're all part of some pack though.

Thank you for all you wrote. I just meant what DLCs are in the below.

You are very kind and patient.

What exactly do you mean? I thought I answered which DLCs the gold edition has in my first post already.

I did find a more complete list though, so here it is (no guarantee on its accuracy, just copied the list from a shop):
DLC:
- 100 Years War Unit Pack
- Horsemen of the Crescent Unit Pack
- Winged Hussars Unit Pack
- Star and Crescent DLC
- American Dream DLC
- Purple Phoenix
- National Monuments
- Conquest of Constantinople Music Pack
- National Monuments II
- Conquest of Paradise
- Conquistadors Unit Pack
- Native Americans Unit Pack
- Songs of the New World
- Songs of Yuletide
- Native Americans II Unit Pack
- Colonial British and French Unit Pack
- Muslim Advisor Portraits

So the 3 mini-expansions and a bunch of cosmetical DLCs.

100 Years War Unit Pack and Purple Phoenix are part of the Pre-order pack, and Winged Hussars and the first National Monuments are part of the Call-to-arms pack, so that might explain some inconsistencies in the amount of DLCs promised and the actual lists.
