How to raise navy tradition?
I want to get the traditional player achievement, but I only have ~60 naval tradition. It seems easy enough to get high army tradition: fight in lots of battles, siege lots of provinces, etc, but it seems like there's no easy way to get the other kind. I maxed out innovative ideas so it decays less, but it's not enough.

The easiest way to keep navy tradition high is by making sure you protect trade with light ships. What this means is that you get +2 yearly naval tradition per 100% ratio of light ships to your naval limit.

Example: Your naval limit is 10. You have 10 light ships. You are earning +2 naval tradition per year.

You can passively keep tradition higher (without battles) by investing in Maritime Ideas, Innovative Ideas and Administrative Ideas (Admin+Maritime gives you a policy).

You can basically almost always have 90-100% tradition if your light ship numbers are 250% of your naval force limit combined with Maritime/Innovative. Since going over naval limits is not anywhere near as expensive as going over land limits, its is feasible to get this achievement.

Good Luck Have Fun.

I think it would be best suited for a different run for me then. I've filled almost my entire ideas and I don't have either admin or maritime. I also have a huge naval forcelimit and pretty much everyone in europe is in a coalition, so I don't think destroying my navy for an achievement would be a good idea.

Well, I managed to get it. I went for naval ideas for my second to last idea group, but I didn't get administrative because it didn't seem very good, especially in the late game. My navy tradition was hovering at about 68 or so. I got 2 lucky hardy seaman events which raised it to 88. I finished it off by declaring war on portugal so I could sink their stack of 500 light ships, giving me 5 tradition.

I got it super easy as England without doing the all light-ship route. In fact, I hit 90% naval tradition before the land one. I got the land when I invaded and crushed France during about 6 wars. You get the Paris achievement this way also.
