How to keep stable FPS/Performance?
I easily pass the recommended requirements for this game and even got a pretty significant processor upgrade not long ago. Despite this though the performance still seems to drop randomly at the higher speeds and it's kind of distracting. I do use a few graphical mods so maybe that is why, but is there anything else that can be turned off or tweake to make the FPS more stable at higher speeds?

Specs (If they help):
CPU - i7 4790k @4.0Ghz
GPU - Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition w/ 3GB VRAM
RAM - 8 GB

ctrl+alt+delete once game is running and paused.
Start task manager, EU4 right click, go to process, right click process, select affinity and set to high.

@Rooter Alright I'll give that a shot, thanks for the tip :)

I think you mean priority though :) affinity chooses which processors it utilizes which should be all of them :)

the problem here is that the GPU will very often get overheated, so whatever you can do to cool off your gpu could help.

Do you mean if I do that it will? Since normally it doesn't seem to overheat.

Totally unrelated to the topic but I just noticed this when I jumped into the late game bookmark to try and test the idea above.

Is this a bug or a result of a mod I'm using, hard to tell since I wasn't using the Modded bookmark.

probably related to the rebels bug, very often rebels will want to defect to a completely unrelated nation, but you should create a new thread for a completely unrelated topic, its not that hard.

Yeah I know, because I'm using a mod though I'm going to chalk it up to that being the reason for this. Though if it's still there after I turn the mod off I'll bring it up on a new discussion.

Yeah sorry about that mate, I did mean priority.
Did it help? It works well for me

@Rooter Seems to have helped a bit, allows me to run the game at Speed 4 without causing huge fluctuations in performance. Some still happen, but they're not as bad now. Thanks.

in order to improve performance, i utilise a technique that essentially entails defeating France by 1789. this way their units will not clutter the map and i can have a nice and relaxing game whilst sipping on my drink that i usually concoct when i gain the desire to play this entertainment product, but i guess another thing would be to take th

Its funny that, my $6k gaming PC which can play any AAA games on full settings has had performance issues with EU4 since the second latest patch.
Map scrolling stutters, delayed mouse clicks, slow windowing of units, etc.
It got a little better after the last patch but still not the smooth experience it was.
Changing priority fixes it.
