People keep saying this but EU4 keeps going strong and they keep making DLC for it sooooooo I personally don't see EU5 happening until EU4 stops making enough money.
I could not disagree more with this. I have 5700 hours of "meaningful experience" with the unmodded game.
As for EU5, people have been predicting that "they might be announcing it soon" for 8 straight years. Worse, who can say if a new iteration will be better than this game? Many CK2 players feel that CK3 is a big step down, for example.
On the other hand, they- probably- can't muck it up as badly as they mucked up HoI 3 and to a somewhat lesser extent HoI 4 - it takes active effort to make drastically inferior games for fifteen years.
...
Probably.
EU4 is worth it though, it's easy to sing a tonne of hours into and it's great fun. The DLC shouldn't really be an issue, a lot of it can be skipped entirely, all of it is regularly on sale, and there's also a subscription to get all of it too (IMO the subscription is a waste of money since it works out as more expensive than buying each new DLC day 1, but for somebody brand new to the game with no DLC to start with it may be better value. Or for somebody who doesn't play as often as I do who subscribes and cancels every now and then).
The steep learning curve is probably more of an issue than the DLC. It takes awhile to figure out how the game works. Tutorials and stuff are mostly outdated too, so aren't ideal. If you have experience with similar types of games that will definitely help though!
I'm going to see how give you points because it is what I think too.
Then you have to wait a long time, my man. EU4 isnt finished and they are still producing content. There is very little reason for them to work on EU5.
Look, every year there is a huge sell, that can give you the whole game for like 20 bucks. Look out for that sale, its usually mentioned here in the forum.
