World Conquest ?
I have and still play EU IV a lot. Honestly, I hate managing multi-continent empires. So I have never tried a world conquest. Am I alone?

Nope. By the time you've conquered somewhere around 5% of the world's development, you're unstoppable. But you still have 95% to go...

It gets boring and very, very tedious. I'll never do another one.

I tried it once but it was so damn tedious that it jsut wasnt fun and there is really no reason for me to play the game when its not fun for me, so i havent tried it since and most likely wont try it again.

since many long time mechanics just changed with Dominion, maybe, there needs to be an idea group for those with world conquests aims, I am just spitballin. Ha

There is one and they buffed it in Dominion. Its called "Administrative".

It's a trio of idea groups, actually--the Big Three of Admin, Diplo, and Influence. They are by far the best blobbing tools in the game.
Diplomatic-Administrative-Influence is already the extremely overtuned and ideal (no pun intended) Idea Group set for people looking to do (or at least set themselves up for) a world conquest. Core creation cost, province warscore cost, diplomatic annexation cost, Improve Relations modifier and Diplomatic Reputation, and plenty of extra diplomats to take advantage of all that. I tend never to take all three of them in a row in my campaigns, just because I do not particularly enjoy that kind of "push your country to its limits" gameplay.

As for world conquests, I've only done it once, recently, as Austria in my "A.E.I.O.U." and "A Kaiser Not Just in Name" run - and that was after insisting to myself that I WASN'T going to go for a WC run, then getting a change of heart in the last 50 years or so, which just goes to show how strong Emperor Austria is at it. I was already blobbing in India and China for the sake of their mission tree, so it wasn't too much of a stretch. At some point in the distant future, if I'm even still coming back to the game and trying for achievements, I'll probably have to do two more for "One Faith" and "The Three Mountains", but I probably won't be trying anytime soon.

What? Marquoz, don't tell me that you've been DELIBERATELY overlooking all of the recent revelations from the elite Dominion-era players CLEARLY explaining how Mercenary and other military type ideas are INVALUABLE against the unstoppable behemoth of the Ottomans?

I expected more from you.

Personally I love multi-continent empires. It's why England is one of my favourite nations to play. A bit of Europe, some of the Americas, getting into Africa and Asia too. Really fun!

But yeah, I'm not into WCs. They take an awful long time and it just gets tedious. Not only being at near constant war, but also having to always plan a few wars ahead, like as soon as I beat x I'll declare war on y, and after them z, gets boring pretty quick.

...i usually stop around 1600, thats when you lose the funny -20% warscore from reformation age and have to rebuild the estates + farm absolutism. Thats when i get bored

Especially with the amount of provinces now. It's not the difficulty but it gets boring real fast
I have done a few, 4 if I remember it well, 3 in a row and didn't care to it again until I decided to go for 'The Three Mountains'.
Not really interested in doing more, in fact, there were several runs that could easily lead to a WC (or 1T 1F), but I didn't see the point of doing it again. After the first one I aimed to WC without vassals and the 1 Faith too, that is why I managed a couple more in a row. After that I was “exhausted” of it and set goals not that long even I decided to hunt achievements (which I only do with Paradox’s games).
I will do 1 more because my "end goal" is a 1T 1F 1C, maybe more than 1 WC because I have my doubts, I can achieve that at the first try (need to WC very fast if I understand well enough the game to achieve the 1 culture too), but time will tell.

Definitely not alone. I've never had the patience to do one, got close a couple times but never had the motivation to continue. Heck, I think I've only played to the end once or twice.

Right. The number of land provinces has roughly doubled since launch. I personally feel that number is much too high, and it makes all of the blobbing achievements boring and tedious. Not hard--once you hit critical mass, you can't lose--but very, very dull.

Like a lot of players I also find world conquest not difficult but just so boring and I hate the micro managing of so many armies, I hope down the line they introduce more automation for forces, perhaps controversial to say. Like, why can't I just place a stack under complete AI control? By the mid game you have so many stacks it's a chore to organise.

I'd love the achievement but I've never had the patience, maybe one day. If I do retry it I'll probably just let my vassal swarm deal with everything.
