:( sad face, Holland doesnt work for the achievement, even though it says as a Dutch culture form the Netherlands. I guess technically they dont "start" anywhere, but they are indeed Dutch.

Welp, i feel like i wasted so much time for nothing.

Holland isn't a nation at the start, if I'm not mistaken and is therefore not eligible.

But I'm curious: have you got the mission to form The Netherlands?

nope, thats why i made this post, to inform everyone. It should be clearer that you can only do this achievement with X countries, similar to the Monghol achievement where it just outright says, Golden Horde or Mongolia only. Or atleast mention it on the wiki.

Maybe i was reaching a bit when i decided to create Holland on day one and play as them, but hey, Dutch culture, cool flag, etc. i thought it would work.

Its just a pain in the ass because all i wanted was the darn achievement, as if its actually hard to get, its just time consuming because i spent like 6 hours getting to this point, and it was for not.

Now im wondering if i can get the Orangist achievement, or if that wont work either due to tag switching.(Burgundy>Holland>Netherlands)

You're right. I have checked the wiki too and it only says "needs dutch culture". Confusion is understandable, but usually you need to start with an eligible nation to make it work.

I did it fairly easy and very quick with Gelre. Just rival Austria plus England, ally France and hope the King of Burgundy won't die that quickly, otherwise you have to deal with Austria. France will do all the work for you. I would classify this achievement in the "easy - medium" range.

ya, it would be easy to start over, im just burnt from it for now. Going to have to take a lunch break, and play another game till im ready to go back.

If anybody reading this knows, please let me know if the Sinassssepei or however its spelled achievement would still be unlockable since i tag switched.

all achievements need to be from the startdate of 1444 except the US one, and the ditch achievement requires you to START with a dutch culture nation.
Hence starting as Burgundy and releasing Holland as a vassal won't work.

i did it as gelre, pretty easy... ally france and whoop burgundy before they shift over to austria

can you still get the sinasapei achievement with Holland being tag switched? or is this only achievable from the starter dutch countries?

you can get the achivement with holland if it existed in 1444. you have to start in 1444

No you cant get the Achievement if you switched nations.

You can get Sinaasappel! with any starter nation, as long as said nation becomes The Netherlands (culture switching and forming is ok, TAG switching is not).
Easiest would be to do it with Burgundy though as they also have the "form netherlands" decision.

Did you start AS a dutch minor?

What matters in the achievement is that you had Dutch culture upon game start.
