Add_Colonist cheat does not work

In fact it temporarily does the opposite. The cheat box says a colonist has been added, but what happens is that one colonist goes missing for a month or two before he comes back, and I have the same amount of colonist as I started out with. I have several expansions, latest el dorado, and some mods. I've disabled mods and tried, no luck, disabled all expansions, no luck.
My plans and schemes of world domination needs a few leg ups (or quite a lot to be honest) and some extra colonists would be handy.

Is it broken for everyone, or just me?

That command never worked for me either - The command "colonize xxx" where xxx is the province ID does however. It instantly colonizes, finishes and cores the given province for you.

add_colonist xxx xxx is the prov number and it must be lower cased or it wont work

Oh it needs an argument? I remembered it as a command that was supposed to just add a Colonist to your nation outright.
