Poland/Lithuanian commonwealth and achievements
So, i edcided to play Poland this time, theres a bunch of achievements there, and the most hard will be to survive the entire game to get Poland can into space, with this i got to the time where i can make the Poland/Lithuanian commonwealth, if i choose that decision and change country to commonwealth cant i finish the Poland achievements??

Also, does it help choose all the ideias that reduce the tech cost? Administrative, diplomatic, innovative and aristotratic ideias?

I usuallly like to play with the aristotratic and innovative but i dont like the others lol, although the -10% look appealing

I haven't looked in to them, but I'm almost positive the condition is starting as Poland. Check the wiki, it probably lists the conditions there.

unfortunatly the wiki dont say if we change to commonwealth it will break the achievements

you just have to start as poland, after that you could turn into any formable country you wanted and still get the achievement

If you want further assurance, I can tell your from personal experience that it works fine as the Commonwealth as long as you start as Poland. (you can check screenshots in my profile and match them with achievement unlocks) :P

i will try to make things a little different and i dont know if its a good ideia lol...

i wanted to change to protestant faith because their bonus are much better and the -10% on the ideia cost is great to spare monarch points, Lithuania is a complete wreck in religious unity and i might end with revolts and using alot of monarch points to get things under control.
On the other hand, if i do that i will be surrounded by catholic enemies, some very powerful.
The papacy is useless as is the catholic church and i want to get the edge on techs.

The point here is to use little monarch points as possible... i think.

Im doing it now for the Poland trifecta. I just got Total Control too in 1625. Poland is built for that achievement. I needed policies to lower my revolt risk by 2, and then just shut them off after 10 years. I went (in order) Diplomatic, Religious, Aristocratic, Innovative, Quality, and considering what to take next. (Re: administrative, it makes sense to grab it for the reduced ADM tech cost, but the bonuses are kind of early game, I no longer need Mercs, and its too late for me to grab.)

Note that you actually need Winged Hussars as a cavalry unit (tech level 22) to get the achievement. I got alarmed when I had over +50% cavalry bonus and didn't get the achievement.

Read up on "The Royal Struggle" event chain, to get One King To Rule achievement, you need to follow a certain decision tree from events. You also need to have a ruler with 1 or lower pip in any stat between 1550 and 1600. Enjoy! Im having a lot of fun with this one myself.

Poland is absolutely great fun, you always seem to have something to do, first with the fractured nation, then the poor (imo) elective monarchy while fighting your way through one (or more) major enemies to just expand slightly (HRE to the west, Russia to the east and Ottomans/Crimea alliance to the south)

The midgame potential of the Polish Commonwealth's army is amazing =)

I dont know wen the One King to Rule achi. chain show up... and what triggers it?
MeatHead Nov 11, 2014 @ 12:56pm
You need the Sejm (should have triggered automatically) which gives you Elective Monarchy, then you need the Pacta Conventa modifier, which steals a diplomat from you and fives maluses to inflation and war exhaustion reduction. The Pacta Conventa triggers between 1550 and 1600 when you have a king with 1 or less in any stat. This should be easy if you don't spend your legitimacy on electing your house to the throne, as the foreign candidates almost always tend to suck. Pacta Conventa has a Mean Time To Happen of 1 day, so it should trigger right when the bad king gets into power.

After 1600 you get a pop-up, which allows you the chance to trigger the Royal Struggle, or gives some maluses and bonuses. Choose the Royal Struggle. It gives +10 revolt risk throughout your kingdom for the duration of the event and spawns A LOT of rebels. Beat the rebels, wait a little bit (you may have to bring your stability to +1) and then the event ends, and you're an Absolute Monarchy, Pacta Conventa goes away, and you get your achievement.

I'm not sure this will work in 1.8, but the workaround would be accepting demands of pretender rebels to get a regular monarchy, and then changing government type to Absolute when you have the appropriate tech level. Can a more experienced player enlighten us if this is still possible with the change to rebels?

edit: explained workaround instead of external link.

guys sorry for the double post but one question please... if the date pass 1600, the Pacta Conventa dont trigger?

Nevermind... pretender rebels took over my country, the funny thing was, i didnt want that to happen that way, i was fighting 2 loosing wars lol, so the country was a wreck, well, i think i just need to change to absolute and i get the achievement

Im not sure about Pacta Conventa after 1600. I was hoping someone else would elaborate. Wiki is useless here.

You answered my other question, though, if pretender rebels change the government type.
Viri Nov 11, 2014 @ 2:45pm
Yes they did change it to administrative monarchy, so i guess i just need to wait to get the tech for absolute monarchy
