Muslim provinces have a -2% to local missioanry strength modifier. Add the modifier from basetax and culture and they can become impossible to convert without more positive modifiers from idea groups like colonial and / or religious.

In order to discover america you need to unlock the exploration idea group which opens up for recruitement of explorers and conquistadors type admirals & generals. When a navy or army has the prerequisit leader they will be able to move into terra incognita sea/land zones and explore/open them up.

But how speed up reasarch on "exploration" it's looked so easy in tutorial campaing.
And how improve my religious moddifers?

You speed up "research" by getting more monarch points. Either by getting lucky and getting a good ruler. Or using national focus or hiering a national advisor.

In regards to conversion the only real way to increase it is getting an inquisitor advisor, increasing stability, increasing province fort level. But your best bet is to get a national idea group with a missionary stregnth modifier.

Playing as Castile successfully in the first 100 years is very RNG. You need not only your Heir to die (0/0/0) but also your king (1/1/2) which is entirely random.

Frome what i have found out every 20-30 days there is a "check" of sorts which decides if they die or not. The only way to increase it is to make the king a general. All this does is adds a second "check" to see if the king died. If the "check" happens while the king is in a battle then there is a slight increase of the chance he dies.

Assuming you get a decent king/queen then you need the union with Argon to form which all you need is a queen or for them to be in a regency council (Reagency council has a mean time of 10 years and a queen has a mean chance of less than a year).

With the current update i think the only way to get to Brazil early is by taking that lone provence on the horn of Africa (west). Once you have that then take the briding islands and you should make it. PLEASE NOTE i have not played Castile with the current patch i just have 100+ hours pre AOW.

If you want to go the conquering north Africa route Fez now has cores in Tangiers and it now only has 2 base tax if i remember right. This means you can just feed them provences provided you have a valid CB.

One other thing, if you try race portugal in the colonial race you will lose causing you to have to wait until diplo tech 7 with all other nations.

I've managed to get to South America with Castile easily, I got the western african province (prefer the islands if you can) and then went over to America from there. Portugal in my games got tied up trying to colonise the tropical region in west africa (-5 settlers a year :P) making it rather easy to be the first over.

I then explored the Americas with ship and army (only done the south with army atm) and focused on the none handicapped regions, so avoiding the tropical and arrid provinces as the delay early game really cripples colonies. I'd also suggest going by only the coastal provinces early on to help box out others colonies or at least force them to less favourable regions.

I usually try to vassalize Portugal early (took about 50 years) with the help of France (Aragon and England are their allies). I take the island first (there is an island between Africa and America that Portugal will colonize before me) and from there go to Brazin without the need for dip tech 7. My ally with France tends to leave them too strong though, so I will consider declaring a no CB war on Portugal at the start so not have to deal with Aragon. But ADM point will be a problem with this king (and heir if he somehow survives)

I forget they remove the 60 day modifier, so Aragon and Naples join in. England seems to abandon its fight with France too, so attack Portugal at the start is not feasible now.

yeah I tend to wait till I've got Aragon under PU and France is out of a war before going after Portugal, seems you have to now with the trade node changes as well!
