how do i lose AE,well not waiting 250 years?
so after reaching 300ae i just stop doing anything hoping for it to go down, but got pulled into a war and it went up to 500 AE (with austria which has a PU with bohimia).
i used to think losing or winning a coalition war dropped ae but i was wrong.so after losing a 1/4 of my land i would LOVE to know how to lose AE.because having every single nation in the HRE coaltiton you sucks

Sometimes if you are lucky that modifier will be dropped out of existiance...For everyone...You are just not allowed to expand for like 200 years...

If you got that much AE then you're already doing it wrong. :/

Or to put it simply, you're pretty screwed. Best chance is to get into a coallition war and "lose" by releasing a couple of minor vassals/nations.

The diplomat advisor to improve the relations modifier speed works for speeding the AE countdown.

AE is pretty much why you have to moderate your expansion rate. You don't have to take as much land as you can in every war.

Nah. AE is why you have to moderate your expansion in a specific direction. Overextension is why you have to moderate your expansion overall.

People, especially newcomers, have trouble with AE because they start as a western nation, which is good because it's a lot easier, but then they start thinking that conquering Europe should be their goal, which is doable, but not if you haven't figured out the mechanics yet.

What on earth did you do to rack up 500 AE?

I've taken most of North Italy, Austria, Bavaria, and southern France (IE most of the richest provinces in the game) in about 40 years and only had a little over 300 AE with neighbors by the end of it.
Surimi Feb 12, 2015 @ 2:45am
Yeah.. If you've got 500AE there is really no fixing that. Just restart.

However, normally you want to keep prestige as high as possible (try to get 100 prestige before peacing out of a war in which you take land) and pick up national ideas which improve AE and relations over time. The diplomat advisor also really helps, so try to recruit one whenever they are available.

so i have a few hundred hours but very few in ironman mode, but thats beside the point.
usally AE goes down at 1.8 a year or somewhere close to that. but i got it at 4 a year. you have to increase you "relations over time" not the one below your relations litmit.

so theres a policy, mulitlingualr diplomats which increase it by 25% and benevelence in the humanitaist ideas group which increase it by 33%.

im looking for more ways but thats all i got

You can reset your AE by losing a coalition war. Another 'gamey' way is to get into an easy war and offer peace by releasing a vassal (make a OPM subject). I think that is going to be removed though, but it works for me still. Either than that you can just do as other players have suggested.

It can happen more easily if you play in the HRE since they have extra maluses attached.

Plenty of ways. Try taking a 100% peace deal with Ming for example. They will NEVER stop hating you.

well,i was attacked by my coalitlion,2 times my numbers( thanks to france) so be fore the fight really started surrendered.losing a little bit of land.but everyone is still pissed of at me at least AE wise.i dont expect everyone to be frinedly after a coalition war but come on a reduction in howq much they hate me would be great.
the_panther Feb 13, 2015 @ 7:06am
Everyone who was in the coalition before now has zero AE against you after the loss. They probably still hate you but that can be fixed a lot easier than having huge AE.
the_panther Feb 13, 2015 @ 12:02pm
It is easy to get huge AE in the HRE. Here is my ongoing Switzerlake game. Austria is leading the coalition against me with -342 AE. Luckily they are not the emperor and I am allied to the emperor Bohemia, though it is only a 4-3 vote with Austria getting close.

And this is after I lost an earlier coalition battle to reset my AE to zero.

Edit: I am allied to France, the Commonwealth, and the Papal State (who owns a lot of Italy), so I think I can win a war even if every HRE nation joins the coalition.
