A province is considered overseas if it's on a different continent than your capital, not connected by land to your capital, and more than a certain distance (Iirc 150) away from your capital.
If you are playing as someone in Iberia chances are that the provinces along the coast are close enough to your capital to not count as distant overseas, while the gold producing province is further in the south and thus does count as distant overseas.
Luckily autonomy has no effect on gold production though.
I was a little ragey when I posted this but I've settled down now but I swear the devs made the new overseas distance range just perfect so that gold mine is out of range for castille and portugal :P
So I was upset cause I saw 75% autonomy has a -75% effect on production efficiency and my gold mine was only making 30 gold so i thought it did have an impact. I looked at austria's gold mine making 130 gold and thought damn it is affecting it but I see now that is just a unique gold mine.
I see now that there is no negatives being added to my gold production and that they must have just nerfed most of the gold mines since the last time I played because they contributed a lot more before. What exactly does production efficiency affect then?
Also is there a map mode of some sort or something that shows if a province will be considered distant overseas with the new way it works? On top of that I'm playing as Portugal and I wonder if moving my capital from Lisboa down to my most southern province Algarve would help any.
