Event ID for El Dorado
Is there an event ID for triggering the good or ultimate ending for the the El Dorado / Fountain of Youth / Cibola / ... exploration event, using the console?
So far I played 3 campaigns as Portugal / Castille and with a custom nation and always got the bad endings.
I would love to experience the event but I don't want to play again as nation with a colonization focus.

I often choose the admin power, rather than go on the hunt. I suspect this isn't actually the best strategy though. What happens if you fail to find the city? Is it always the new domains settler boost?

Also, I found Cibola, and the permanent bonus is pretty modest

I got -10 Prestige for the bad ending. I got the average ending for Cibola once. I think that was some tax income for 50 years.

Can you even use the console to trigger the El Dorado events?

The permanent buff I got for Cibola was +10 tax and a small prestige buff. Pretty sure that's annual though, so 10 tax a year is sorta ho hum. Finding it was pretty exciting though. And I don't know much about triggering events via console, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't. Just look up the id on the wiki, or in the event files

You are right it's quite exciting to get the final event. I was rather disappointed to fail the events after 3 playthrougs.
I realised that I found wrong event IDs on the internet so I checked the event files like you suggested. It worked of course.
I definately like the exploration events even though they are just a small addition and not much of a bonus. They add some diversion to otherwise boring exploration.
Thanks for your reply!

No problem man. I'm also a big fan of the Search for the Seven Cities. When you're exploring with a fleet the events are a little boring/repetitive though. By the way, what happens if you try to use a conquistador to explore in Asia or Africa? I'm assuming no events, but will he still auto-explore?

if you know how the last events are called (title of the event) i can give you the eventid.

there is no auto explore in africa

Yes, there is no auto explore in Africa. You can only use the auto explore function in colonial territory.

Good to know. Thanks guys

I already searched for it in the event files. But thank you :)

By the way. For anyone trying to use console commands for the Seven Cities events (and who want to keep the bonus): The console command will trigger the event but it will not initiate or end the search for the city. I just did this to see the actual event once.
So it's not possible to keep the El Dorado -1 Unrest +10 Tax for example - unless you meet the prerequisites and the event triggers itself.
...at least as far as I know...

Did you happen to see anything in the event files to indicate how common it is to actually find one of the cities? If not, I'll check later myself and post the probabilities here
Kajote Mar 12, 2015 @ 3:43pm
No I did not. I did not explicitly look for it. I only remember that events of that category trigger once every 365 years.

So there's no probability factor in the event files, and the triggers for the endings of the search are all the same, with a MTTH of one day. So I think what happens is that a province in an appropriate region is assigned as the home of the city, and given a flag as to what ending occurs when you enter that province. So my advice would be to always pick the search option, for fun's sake if not for any actual game play reason, given that its unclear how likely you are to find it

Thanks for the information.
This is probably the reason why the event triggered via console command wouldn't work (and give you the bonus). It would assign a province in your country as the target province and the flag won't trigger.

I would also like to know if anyone has had any luck, I have tried to save file edit with no luck either, you have outfoxed me paradox!
