Unite Japan as a Daimyo - help

[30+]

I started as Uesugi to get this achivement and I just fully annexed Japan in my latest war against them BUT immediately when this happened I became the new emperor, Uesugi became the new Japan, with shogunate government form - so now I am Japan with a shogunate government form...

The "Unite Japan" national decison is still available but now the requirement says that government form CAN NOT be daimyo...
so my question is: did I just messed up my chance to get this achivement or I am on the right path?
If I did mess it up, I don't understand how this should be done because when my country was Uesugi one of the requirement for the "Unite Japan" decision was that * Japan does not exist.
That was clear so I annexed them but when that happened...well...I just wrote what happened and it was that kind of event when you have no choice but to accept.

How did you united Japan as a Daimy? I've tried a lot of times and I always get smashed

But is your nation now Japan? Or are you still Uesugi? If you are Japan, just take Ainu and every other province in hte Japan Region [www.eu4wiki.com]

My nation is Japan now.

Then you should get the Achievement once you own all the provinces in the region

So, Im currently at war with Japan (they declared war on me to annex me) I still being a Daimyo but im not longer his vassal. The war is going pretty good Im winning. What should I do? Take Japan as my vassal and therefore all the remaining Daimyos?

My understanding is that you must destroy all the other daiymos before you destroy Japan(Become Shogun) or you will not get the achievement. The wiki is pretty vague, so I am not going to try this until I know for sure :(

you just need to start as a daimyo and become japan and own all of the provinces in the japan region. thats it. its really not that difficult once you get past the start and conquer enough of the other daimyo to challenge the shogun

I see you have the achievement, ok great, thanks for clearing this up! So order does not matter just remain a daimyo and conquer every province in Japan including the Ainu? Do you have to do any mission or will the achievement pop once you own all the provinces?

the order doesnt matter. you just need to become the japan tag and once you have all the provinces the achievement will pop up. it doesnt matter how long you stay a daimyo either. you can rush to become japan fairly quickly and then just annex the remaining daimyo and ainu and its all the same. you just have to start as a daimyo

As you can see 3 provinces on the left side of the Japanese region are taken by Korea - everything else is mine already - which sucks big time, because they are allied with the huuuge Ming and their combined navy forces are way too strong for me and when I try to pass over to those provinces they immediately block those sea areas which would provide me acces and that's that, I went to war, but I can't get near to the provinces I want (I tried). BUT! I realised that the "Japan is United!" national decision is active...does that mean I will get the achievement if I click on it?

As others said above and this site also says: "All provinces in Japan (region) must be either owned by Japan or unowned"

that link doesnt direct to a screenshot and your profile is private. you need all the provinces though. revoking your cores wont change the fact that the provinces are in the japan region and you need every province in it. you could try taking loans and spamming galleys or wait for mings navy to be somewhere else. you just need to get your army over there and kick korea out. if you cant do anything else then just wait for ming to take a seperate peace from length of war penalties and then siege the provinces

You need those provinces from Korea. The Achievement is not tied to the Event.
