Hessian Mercenaries Achievement.
Hey guys, trying to get the Hessian Mercearies achievement. (Have 50 units of mercs as Hesse)
Just wanted to know if any of you already did it or if you have any tips on how to do it..
I was thinking about Administrative ideas, but that doesn't seem to be enough..
Any help?

Administrative ideas are good since the +50% available mercenaries will help since eventually you will have to wait for new mercenaries as they run out. The reduction in cost and maintenance is handy as well.

I just expanded regularly, taking mainz, frankfurt, köln, westfalen etc until I was large enough to support 50 mercs.

Yeah even when you've hired all the mercs more will eventually become available. Technically you don't need to take any ideas to get this achievement. Also, if you're a republic plutocratic has an available mercs boost as well

If you want to expand quickly you can get diplomatic ideas, to deal with the inevitable coalitions and backlash from expanding in the HRE. The extra diplo rep partners well with Reichskreis the third german national idea so you can have +6 Diplomatic reputation which means no ally will ever dishonour a call and annexing is fast.

Then administration ideas and you should have more than enough income from your conquests.

Good luck

Actually diplomatic ideas don't really help that much against coalitions. It's influence that gives you -20% aggressive expansion.

I did it. Just take Administrative Ideas. Expand a couple of provinces (2 or 3) I even got myself to the Throne of the HRE as Hesse cause I had very good relations with 5 of the electors (neithere of them were my vassals) At one foint, you should just take as many loans as you want and stack up Mercs. I think, and by this, I am pretty sure, that I got the achievement just by queing the 50 Mercs. They didnt even have to finish the training, so I had a 40 Queue of Mercs, got the achievement and cancelled the training.

Then I broke the game declaring on everyone cause I started the series only for that particular achievement.

While playing the Ottomans I had around 200k units, huge empire, +200 ducats a month and administrative ideas. But often I just couldn't hire 50k mercs as after hiring 25 i can have new regiments the next day or only one regiment in a week. So playing Hesse and rushing to get the achievement you can find yourself just luck of mercs while the budget going down fastly. So my opinion is to get administrative, maybe innovative as it too have "more mercs" idea. And wait for an event from admin ideas "mercs are coming to you, +50% of mercs". Then you will be able to get 50 mercs fast.

Also, I forgot, there was an event, maybe related only to Hesse, that gave me 100% extra Mercs
