Cannot save
Everytime I try to save manually I get the error message "error writing save game", It still works fine with autosaves though.
Anyone know a fix to this?

Are autosaves local and manual saves to the Cloud, or vice versa?

Also, do you have 32bit Windows?

If you have adequate disk space, then I know no reason why you'd be getting that error in that circumstance. Has this happened ever since you've had the game, or only since what change or update?

Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere (ditch any you don't want)
- "delete local content" in Steam-EU4
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox/EU4
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

- start the game with no mods active and test

No it didnt work unfortunately. Its only happended recently and there is enough disk space. I've noticed though that it works when I dont compress the saves, but that of course takes much longer. Any idea why compressed saves dont work?

I have had the same problem since the weekend, 'failed to save game for unknown reason. Are you using forbiden characters in the file name, do you have enough free space.' I have deleted the other saves on cloud and know I have plenty of local space - this is an Iron Man save and loads fine. Just can't save and its sooooo anoying being patient.

I had the same problem. Uncheck the checkbox on the save menu that compresses your save files. That fixed all my problems.

Yeah, but the problem is that the saving time is so much longer. (It fixed itself for me now anyway though)

The saving time is longer? There was literally no difference for me...
