how many frenchman required to defend Paris? ....
noone knows, they never tried to defend it:D
but yeah, France unhistorically OP in the game, the fact that Paradox tried to make them enough strong for napoleonic era made them extremly OP even for early times.
at the times of the game start the future of France wasnt that sure, history could have been very different, but that dont comes through in eu4. i never ever seen weak france in any of my game while in eu3 it happened a few times that burgundy became dominant in that region or england won 100 years war, there are no randomness for france in eu4.
maybe they're only bad when they're 1 of your crucial allies? lol
Closes eu4 and goes scream to a CS:GO casual pub.
The Catholic League: France, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Novgorod, and the Ottomans, number 2.6 million. The largest issue is, what do you do if your enemy outnumbers you by over a half a million men in the MAIN theater? So here I am freaking out of being outnumbered and then I look at Britain who I know isn't going to do ANYTHING. I could grab my troops from everywhere else, but if I land them somewhere, they would get pounced on and destroyed. To make matters worse the Catholics decide to invade through the mountains, forcing us to engage in monstrous battles resulting in hundreds of thousands of casualties.
The problem doesn't get better when you lose a couple of Stadtholders during the war that lasts 10 years. In the end of my war, the Protestants manage to win but have to settle for the Peace of Westphalia, making the entire war a fiasco in itself.
Where was Britain in all of this? Oh yeah. They come in during the last THREE years deciding to land in RAGUSA..... after we practically sieged Austria down and were getting pushed back by the Iberians and French in their homeland.
i have seen so many threads whining bout france...if you have problems defeating france with one of the majors, like castille for example, you did not understand well enough how the game works.
ally austria, check manpower, check allys, wait for a opportunity(for example a war burgundy-france) and crush the hell out of them.it is so easy,it feels like cheating
i managed it thankfully. being able to declare war on cree to drag france in was vital.
i had to declare another war as well to be able to siege kichesipi and occupy it.
sometimes a subject's AI can be really annoying.
Admin ideas were done, 3 stab, 100 legitimacy, 197 adm, about to reform around 1520.
That month my ruler dies with a child heir, but I have plenty of troops and 100k manpower, so I'm not stressing.
Then the replacement instantly dies and leave his age 0 child as the khan, plunging me into eternal succession crisis. I fight off rebels until a decent leader emerges and let him start carpet sieging. Takes him 10 years to do it. Just as he sieges down the last province he needed to break the country and end the succession crisis, four different nationalist rebels rise up.
Since all rebels have their demands met, Persia (7 provinces), Sibir (5 provinces), Ukraine (4 provinces), and Smolensk (2 provinces) break off and form. I spend the 5 years of truce time trying to pay off loans and swatting rebels that pop because I haven't been at war. I declare on them one at a time and take back everything I lost, but I'm down to 0 manpower since I can't afford mercs to siege.
Once I finish with them all I note that I'm right at 70 legitimacy again, so I build back up to 3 stab, and I'm sitting at ~150 adm. Peasant's war event spawns, -3 stab, instantly broke again, and I can't fight off the rebel stacks as my lack of manpower starts to eat into me.
Took me nearly 6 years to clear the event, putting myself deep into debt, but at least it's over. I start having rebels pop up almost as soon as the event ends because I haven't been at war, so I declare on OPM Trebizond that Otto had split off by the french.
Apparently that was what Muscovy was waiting on, so they DoW with their ally France and Sweden. Once they siege down the first province, Lith + Poland + Bohemia DoW me, and then Timmy + Qitar later that month. It was at this point I accepted what paradox had been telling me for the last 100 years and I gave up.
