Most Depressing EU4 Moment You've Ever Had?
I just want to hear about how the great empires of others have broken apart to see what has happened to the others. I've had two great games collapse, and both due to disasters.

I'll start off:

Playing as the Muscovites, I formed Russia, massacred the steppes, pushed into a good half of Asia, and was stomping through Scandinavia. (Ironman Mode.) OE and AE are low, Stability is 3, I have a great heir (4/5/5)...

Oh shoot, my heir died out of the blue...

Oh shoot, my king just followed suit...

Oh shoot, some 1/1/0 guy from Bohemia inherits my throne...

Oh shoot, he only has 20 Legitimacy...

Oh shoot, Sweden, Lithuania, Poland, Norway, Denmark, England, and Hungary all invade me...

Oh, yay! I won the war!

Oh shoot, I have no manpower.

Oh shoot, the Peasant's war is skyrocketing at 1.5 per month since I have no legitimacy...

Well ♥♥♥♥. I have to fight 132,000 rebels vs my 32,000 man army.

Oh, and after I lost the Peasant's war, I got invaded by Sweden and Co. Again.

Think you can top such magnificient degrees of downfall? I think not. So, prove me wrong!

playing as sweden, losing independece war against danemark...

A month or so ago, I was playing as the Commonwealth, 1600s, I have got rid of the Sejm, and I have a good king and a strong claim heir. Russia is dead, the Ottomans are no longer a threat by this point, and I have most of Scandinavia as well. I am allied to France and Austria. During the period where I had the elective monarchy government form, Austria had got his dynasty on my throne and the French throne, so when I changed government forms, I had the von Habsburg dynasty. So it was astonishing to witness the speed that my king and my 20 year old heir died at the exact same date, I kid you not. This means I am under a PU with a blobbed, op France who completely obliterates Austria in the succession war with his Hungarian ally. What makes matters worse, literally everyone surrounding me hates my guts, so are unwilling to support my independence, and since France has over 100k men with a three star general and two very good two star generals, I have very little chance of breaking free.

>Didn't vote for austria because I thought he is a bad emperor.
>Austria declared war against me with the reason "No Reason given".
>Was completely annexed.
10/10. After the game I asked him why he did this.
He answered me: "I only play historically."

It´s actually a very difficult war if you don´t have powerful supporters. No need to feel shame for it.

I played Denmark and had to face Sweden backed by Scotland, Novgorod and Teutonics, while England and Muscowy were busy elsewhere and thus wouldn´t DOW them even when they lost thousands. It was... painful. If I didn´t have Poland and Brandenburg on my side I would easily lose.

The baltic theather is pretty interesting nowadays and relies on skill to get things going fast.

Austrian players usually try and conquer the whole HRE if someone is playing Burgundy and Hungary, as they know they are unlikely to get the PUs or the inheritance. I've played as Bohemia once, and the Austrian player allied the Commonwealth, France and Hungary, and so obviously I had no chance as there were no good allies to help me when he got the mission to pu me.

Just now:

- The year is 1558

- Playing Castile.

- Spain is formed. Portugal is conquered and Aragon/Sicily are integrated.

- Focusing on North Africa and consistently working my way towards my main rival the Ottomans (Morocco, Tlemcen and Algier are conquered, cored & converted)

- Still 2 to years to wait for end of truce. My glorious army and fleet were ready to proceed kicking some tunesian/ottoman butt for the third time with help of my allies (France, Austria & Hungary).

- Trying hard to always make smart decisions since ironman. lol

- Got a bit bored waiting and sent 21k south to take the one province from Timbuktu visible to me (Taudesi, since I had colonized Tuat).

- Seemed like a waltz for my certainly way oversized and modern army.

- Too lazy to properly check Timbuktu's alliance situation.

- Occupied Taudesi in the blink of an eye.

- In the next blink of an eye my army gets almost annihilated by a tree times bigger multinational army with much stronger leaders suddenly coming out of the fog. Turns out, Timbuktu was allied with Jolof, Mali and Air.

- My utterly shocked and traumatized units get chased up north all the way to Oran.

- Need now to bring in my mainland army and call in France to the rescue in order to push those guys back, conquer some land and even my first negative warscore.

- Way to jeopardize a game by making one blindfolded decision and thoroughly stirring up a hornet's nest without need!! Learned my lesson (hopefully).

Generally as a rule, Austria players are either huge bullies or extremely chill and get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over for being kind. If you play a good emporer that strengthens the HRE, everybody out-scales you and you can't defend yourself or the HRE. The other Austria kills everyone in the HRE and powerblocks the ♥♥♥♥ out of everyone.

So way way back when you could still do broken crap i was playing as Japan i full annexed Ming Korea and the tribes, started colonizing the random stuff to the south. Then i find portugal and start to westernize. Mind you back then the nationlist would just accept autonomy not actual freedom so i just figured thats what i would do for all of China and it was working taking like 30-40 years but working, then my colonys start finishing because im doing way more than im suppose to because for somereason having debt or lack of income made you westernize faster or somecrap. Then the rebels the ones who try to stop westernization started in the random colonized land. Hundred stacks and lots of them needless to say the Japanease army struggled to win the naval assaults, eventully forced into ending westernization close to 75 percent and 35 or so years in. Gave up after that 10k gold in debt 0 manpower 0 points.

So sad. Not really, Mr. Vice President. In my current TO game its the OPPOSITE-Its 1530 and I've taken Berlin, Sachsen, Kolberg, Stolp, Sternberg, the 3 Silesian provinces, Niederlausitz, Oberlausitz, Notec and Kalisz. Also I hate OPM Brandenburg as a vassal, Muscovy and Austria as allies, in HRE. However, the war where Kalisz and Notec were taken was defensive, I got the Silesian provinces through vassalizing Silesia, and the majority of the wars involved support from allies.
