Zero hype here. The extent to which the game has changed already based purely on community feedback to the last year-plus worth of dev diaries already makes it plain that the overall thing is still nowhere close to being in a releasable state. If Paradox really do push for a late 2025 release, I can all but GUARANTEE that the end result is going to explode in their faces. The fact that there's a sudden hype push now of all times doesn't bring me excitement, it brings me fear for the future of EU5 and of Paradox as a whole.

I'll buy it, play it, and evaluate it. If it's good, then I'll be excited. If it isn't, EU4 will still exist.

You should wait until its on sale

Nope. I'm sufficiently curious to buy the game at launch for full price. I recommend new EU4 players wait for sales because the game has been out for 12 years. It goes on sale every couple months. That won't be the case for EU5.

Well I hope you do enjoy it.
On the flip side, if you dont enjoy it, you wont have to spend another $1000 on DLC.
We can always find a positive if we look hard enough.
I have a strange feeling it wont take too long to go on sale.

I spent a few hundred on DLC, maybe less, not "$1000." I picked up a big chunk of it on sale--the same thing I recommend to new players--after taking a break from the game during the DDR Jake era.

Do you think you will buy the advanced version that gets you the first couple of DLC?
If you like it will you get a DLC subscription until DLC goes on sale?
Just wondering

Absolutely not, unless I get to play an open beta for 100+ hours and know for a fact that I will love the release version.

Of course not. The EU4 sub didn't exist until the game had been out for around eight years. It gave access to all of that content cheaply. A sub for EU5 won't make sense until a similar amount of content is available.

Just wondering

Sure.

I think a sub out of the box would be good for gamers, maybe not so much Paradox.
$10 to try it out.

If I was Paradox I would reward all the good little boys with Beta access

Won't do me any good if they do. I'm not on Paradox's good boy list at all. I've made too many disparaging comments about too many of their games, especially Vicky 3 and the CK series.

I personally think they should appreciate your love of EU4.
Too greedy to forego a game sale.
Before I can even attempt EU5 I will need a much better computer, I may well at some point migrate back to euIII, I have too many design issues with EUIV to really enjoy it.

Is hype for new games still a thing nowadays? I'll probably buy it when it's released. Or maybe a bit later if the initial release is catastrophic. I don't expect it to be particularly good. Fully prepared to shelve it after the first campaign and give it another try after the first 1-2 major updates.
If EU5 has the same military system like in Vic 3 then no.
