i dont see a reason as to why anyone would make lets say, a galley flagship let alone a light or transport flag

Not really, well I have never found a reason, I know the light ship is good at like pirating and such but I want the heavy to carry the day. I have only lost one heavy flagship in my games. got caught by a super large Ottoman fleet.

light flagship if you wanna rush exploring the world i guess

I make light flagships exclusively because I like spamming trade fleets. No point having a single heavy ship slowing down a fleet that is used 99% of the time for trade. Also they are cheaper to maintain.

Light ships aren't that effective, really. Instead of competing for a slice of trade, conquer and take it all. Use that cash on your military instead--light ships slowly show a small profit while conquest immediately shows an enormous one. If you want a wealthy nation, let trade guide your expansion. Conquer your entire collection node, then the nodes that feed your collection point, then the nodes that feed those nodes, and so on.

Even though the game has a tooltip on the loading screen that says "light ships are the key to securing trade opportunities," it's wrong. I'll use those I start with or capture in nodes where I don't have total control yet, but if I need fleet capacity for transports and warships, I get rid of them without a second thought.

The same principle holds true for marketplaces and upgrading centers of trade. If a mission or estate agenda requires it, build them, but otherwise use that cash on your military instead. And construct useful buildings like manufactories, workshops, and courthouses.
This approach will earn you trade incomes of many thousands per month by the mid game and millions by the end.

You won't care about whether things are "cheaper to maintain" when you're so rich that you think nothing of upgrading a monument you just conquered to max level in three days with your immense cash reserves while fielding an army of millions and hundreds of combat ships and transports.

Guy asks if building non heavy flagship worth it - Marquoz responds to a guy who just likes light ships with wall of text on how to do a WC. The fact that both OP and light ship guy could had different gameplay preferences than our resident uber 1337 save scummer is lost on him.

I'm definitely uber and 1337, but I'm not a save scummer.

Just to be clear, you did countries like Hisen Kayfa and Beloozero without save scumming??

For me, Light Ships are best used for exploration of sea zones and coastal land areas. Especially good if your explorer has a high maneuver value. As for heavy flagships, it depends on my economy and the make-up of my navy.

Hisn Kayfa was easy. I don't think I've played Beloozero, though.

I see.

The most important reason is that the average navy cost goes up astronomically when you have a heavy flagship. And the average is how the over naval forcelimit gets calculated from what i know.

from the wiki:

The base build costs and ship maintenance factors are given here:
Ship Class Base Cost /Maintenance Factor/monthly maintenance without any modifiers
Heavy ships - 50 0.10 0.4
Light ships - 20 0.03 0.04
Galleys - 10 0.04 0.03
Transport - 12 0.04 0.036

Being over naval force limit will multiply the maintenance cost of ships by the force limit proportion. For example, if a country has 10 ships on a force limit of 5, maintenance is doubled.

Please take your one sided nemesis relationship to your wet dreams and keep it there. I'm sure there's someone on the discord server you moderate that'd be happy to play the shameful savescummer to your righteous whatever-the-♥♥♥♥ you are.

That's Marquoz for you. Some of us touch grass once every few years, others become masters of EU4.

Still others of us whine about them on Steam forums apparently.
