The reason why we were wondering was I thought that horseman conquistadors would move a lot faster than infantry, but thanks for the info!
At the strategic level, if you want to be realistic infantry would move long distances better than cavalry, and both would be much better than artillery. But this game doesn't even make a passing effort at realism wrt logistics.
Is that you create a mod (there are tutorials on how to do that). Once u have a mod with basic elements, you can add a defines folder under your mod.
EU4>mod>$your mod name$>common>defines
Create a defines file 00_mod name.lua.
Then you add the following code in the file:
NDefines.NMilitary.CAVALRY_SPEED = 2
and you're done.
Note: 2 means its twice as fast as infantry and arty. You can also change the speed of other units. simply change the cavalry_speed into infantry_speed. (i only tried 3 max, its fast enough im not sure what happens if you go higher, procees with your own discretion)
Otherwise its a lot of kiting and zippy armies unable to be caught unless cornered.
That would be fine if there was a way to effect cavalry movement speeds in mountains, swamps, ect.
But my intention was to just get a bit of realistic aspect to the game by making cavalry faster than infantry for when u playing alone, and make the game more fun (to me personally).
However if you dont perfer this modification then u can disable the mod anytime.
But an option provided its always better than nothing
