It's OSMAN not OTTOMAN Empire for the love of Allah
Ok, it is something that bugs me for a long time. The Turkish Empire was ruled by OSMAN not by some dude called Otto!

I know the English don't care about names outside of English, but maybe it is time to learn a bit.

At least in the German version maybe you can name it the way it is properly called in German, where we say "Osman Empire" (Osmanisches Reich), since it was ruled by people called Osman, which is a Turkish name, unlike Otto, which isn't a Turkish name at all.

kthxbye

It was called the Ottoman Empire in English, this game doesn't write the name in German (unless you play with German localization). The name is derived from the Ottoman Turks lead by Osmanoglu.
I do agree that it's an English bastardisation of the name Osmanoglu, however that is what it is called. I don't see you whining about Germany being called Germany and not Deutschland as it should be.
Or Italy not being called Italia?
Commonwealth not being called Rzeczpospolita Polska?

I could go on...

Basicly the devs chose to use ENGLISH names on the ENGLISH localization, hence why it isn't written in GERMAN.

Germany? You mean Allemangne.
Akim Jun 9, 2015 @ 6:47pm
Germany and Allemagne at least make sense. The German tribes were called "Germanen" (spear-men) by themselves in old times, and the Allemannen were a German tribe at the French border.

Yes I play in German, I am asking the German localisation is changed from "Ottoman" to "Osman". Engrish can keep their unknowing. =P

Then maybe you should have posted this on the official forums - Where the developers actually read things.

The English Language is the international language of buisness. Get over it. Osmongolu's followers were named the Ottomans.

Hmm I never was there. Usually not a forum person. Maybe I try that.

Paradox doesn't care about languages other than english. French, spanish and german are bugged as hell, but the community released some language mods which fixes all those things :)
The german one even changes ottoman to osman empire :)

welcome to localization, btw, westgoten-ostgoten, hilarious in the same context, that aside, every language has its own names for stuff, and the english term for the ottoman empire being the ottoman empire is kinda well established, if you want to change that, publish a well formulated article in a well regarded scientific magazine and wait 50 years

There is good mods that make all countries called what they called themself. :)

I'd recommend you seek/create a mod. Many mods out there so there could be something for your own languange.

Also remember, don't complain. If you have suggestions to the game, then you're free to suggest them at the forum. :)

Yeah, and everyone knows Mikmaq is actually spelled Mi'kmaq... Actually that one is pretty close to the most modern spelling, it's been spelled differently a half-dozen times in my life. Don't get me started on the spelling of the province names in Atlantic Canada or the fact that the Halifax area (Kespukwitk I think, I can never remember which section is which in the Nova Scotia region) is not noted as having an important harbour for trade when in fact it has the largest natural harbour (that never freezes) in the world and is a very important center of trade since it's European discovery. :)

Ottomans = Osmans. It is the same. You can choose both names in some languages, though in English there is only Ottomans or Turkish. . Maybe it is time for you, Akim, to get more knowledge about this matter before you pust some s*itty topic ;)
btw if it is that hard for you to google find it even on wikipedia (though wiki is not sometimes 100% correct but I guess you can search for more accurate pages if needed), here is the quotation from wiki:"
The Ottoman Empire (/ˈɒtəmən/; Ottoman Turkish: دَوْلَتِ عَلِيّهٔ عُثمَانِیّه, Devlet-i Aliyye-i Osmâniyye‎, Modern Turkish: Osmanlı İmparatorluğu or Osmanlı Devleti), also historically referred to as the Turkish Empire or Turkey"
