How to fix small resolution
Everything is so small. No matter what I do I cannot get the buttons back to what they were at launch. I cannot read anything.

Which resolution and UI scale is configured in the video settings? Can you post a screenshot which shows how it looks like?

I would love to post a screen shot. For some reason Steam will not allow me to.

What do you mean? How are you trying to post the screenshot? If you want to embed it into the comment, you need to create a steam screenshot ingame and then share it on steam and then post the link to the screenshot here. Or you can use any other file hosting site to upload the screenshot and post the link here.

The size looks normal for a 4k resolution with 1.0 UI scale. If you want it to look bigger, you can lower your resolution(if you use borderless fullscreen, you have to change the resolution of your system), increase the UI scale or use a mod which has bigger UI elements. E.g. (the first one has a bigger UI, but some bugs):

ah well I will uninstall and not play then. Not going to change everything up because one game does not work well while the others are just fine.

You don't have to change everything. If you want a lower resolution for eu4 than for your desktop, you have to use it in fullscreen mode. That's the same for all games. But you don't have to change the resolution. I gave you three other options how you can make the UI bigger without changing the resolution. You could also check the settings for eu4 in the software for your GPU. Some have an option to render eu4 on a lower resolution and scale it up
This is why I will never understand the obsession with 4k resolution nonsense. Older games that are actually good always have issues with it, and the people who swear by it do nothing but complain about not every game on the face of the planet supporting their overpriced, specific setup.

I think high resolutions look amazing if you have good enough eyes and are close enough to the screen and use applications which support such a resolution and have a hardware which is good enough. But I agree that you should not complain if older software does not support it properly. You can just use a lower resolution or some kind of scaling. I personally use the proper 2k ui enhanced mod most of the time when I play eu4 on my 2560x1600 laptop screen and I think it looks much better than using vanilla eu4 with a 1920x1080 resolution.
