Colonial Nation Not Forming
I conquered a whole load of provinces in what is supposed to be Colonial America, but no colonial nation formed. Why? I already have one in Canada but the one in the Eastern U.S isn't formed. Because of the ton of overextension that I had after taking all those provinces, I was forced to release 9 of the provinces I conquered as a protectorate, which I'd be willing to break and recounqer, but I just want to know if this is happening to anyone else.

Need to have 5 core provinces in the same region.

I just had the same problem. I control 11 provinces, all in Colonial-Eastern-America region. The only thing I can think of is that I don't have a core province anywhere in the new world yet because it is still out of my range.

The thing is, before the patch I conquered all but one of the Aztec provinces, and they still formed a Colonial Nation, but here, I did the same thing with 3 decent sized Native tribes and it didn't form. P.S I had around 15 provinces spread throughout Lousiana and the Eastern Seaboard.

Like already stated above, you need cores for provinces to form colonial nations / get already existing nations to integrate provinces in their territory.

About the Aztec thing, I didn't have any cores at all, a few days after I took it, a prompt to form a Colonial Nation popped up. But that was in a previuos version, si I don't know if the new patch chanegd it.

strange thing i don t quite understand

i ve got a colonial nation in america, everytime i colonise another province attached to that CN, the province becomes part of that CN, that s normal and expected

but, my last province, which meets all the conditions the others did(they all are cores and have borders in common, none of them are from native or rival nations), stays under my control

why is that?

the only reasons i can think of are the following:

-my CN has 15 provinces, maybe thats a limit to the number of provinces it can have
-the province that stays mine is attached to the first province my CN colonised on it s own(not fully colonised yet), so maybe, once the CN starts colonising on it s own, it stops accepting my own colonies

any wise experienced colonist have the answer?

It's most likely that you crossed into another colonial area. For example, from Brazil into La Plata. There is a map option to check that. Another colonial nation will be formed when you settle 5 provinces in that new area.

nope, thats not the case

i do have one province that is not in the same colonial area but it belongs to my CN anyways
the problem province is in the same area as the majority of the others, and to make it even stranger,it is between two provinces that already belong to my CN

it s on a random new world and i have an extended time line mod and no other mod, maybe there something weird with the random map

thank you still :)

i will investigate, create a new colony and see what happens, i don t really mind my situation, it allows me to recruit in this area, so it s kind of usefull

Narf, you were right

i was mistaking trade map and region map on my previous statement
the trouble colony is not in the same region as the others

apologies and thanks

Happens, especially with all the different map modes. Glad you got a solution now.
I have the problem aswell but the weird thing is I have all the provinces in colonial area and it still wont form into a CN, and I do have them all cored, any one got ideas?

I have found the exact same issue. I have 8 or so provinces, all cored, in Canada. I am playing as the Aztecs. Canada has formed (Norway was the motherland) but so has Newfoundland (Great Britain). And they are all in the same region (Canada). I am playing 1.11.4.

Everything within the Mexico colonial region is still considered part of North America, and CNs don't form on the same continent as the capital of your nation. They also don't form when there is a direct connection to the capital, so even if you colonize your way into South America, no CN will form as long as there is a direct line of provinces to your capital.

I realized that upon re-reading the thread a few days ago. I was able to form a colony in South America, but not North America. It's all right though as I figured out how to form client states and so formed a number of them instead. But thank you for the specifics on colonization.
