Protestant or Reformed?
Considering another run as Great Britain, and I'm wondering if I should stick to Protestantism, or if I should take a whack at Reformed if possible.

I prefer protestant out of those two, but Catholic pope controller is obviously the best. But i understand you might not go catholic on purpose

Also, choice of religion tends to affect what power block in central Europe is most sympathetic to you. Being a protestant England with a big fat Lutheran Denmark to back you up, is a good way to deal with Catholic powers and vice versa.

Protestant is good but a pain to switch 2
If you win HYW then stay catholic as the conversion to Protestant will drop you 100 prestige.
If you lose HYW, then go protestant, especially for that godly 10% Tax mod and reduced idea costs.

Thanks for the replies! I suppose that Britain is historically expected to go Protestant. It's just a shame really, since Reformed looks really powerful now. Oh well, guess I'll just wait for Res Publica so I can try out the new features to the Dutch Republic and Reformed religion.

Some tricks to an easier go at changing your countries religion is to take Innovative Ideas for the +25% Religious Unity bonus. You can also take Religious Ideas which makes it really easy.

The last trick is if you can manage to get some strong nearby allies they will kill rebels for you. Worst case scenario (if things really start to get out of hand) is to start a war that your allies can win or maybe you can just give up a little so that your enemies will kill rebels for you.

This is my recent Hansa campaign where I picked Religious Ideas as my 3rd overall Idea (I just love that Cleanse Heresy CB!) and on top of that I immediately started a war when I converted my states religion. So Burgandy and allies did most of the curb stomping while my 2 (later 3) missionaries spent 6-7 months on each provence.

Protestant is my fav but I do enjoy roleplaying some as well so there is no real wrong answer as long as you can make it work!

Save before you convert and try both! If you went Protestant last time do Reformed this time and see if you like it more. Who knows? Maybe it suits your playstyle.

I'm playing a game as Reformed Netherlands currently, and I'm enjoying the choice to go Reformed for around 300 yrs. As long as you can keep fervor positive, fanatic focus on trade is very beneficial. With a general focus on trade and colonization, fervor focus certainly makes the Dutch dominate world trade.

Though, the choice is yours. Catholic gives more bonuses overall if you controll a lot of cardinals, but crusades aren't as usefull up north.
