Activation-key problem

So, I bought Europa Universalis IV Extreme Edition in Steam during the 75%-off sale a week ago, but when I started the game, it gave me an activation key for CD that I was to enter when the game started and ask me for it. I thought activation-keys were not necessary when having the game bought digitally online and that normally I would have to enter it in Steam and not in the game itself, but I just went with it. However, when the game started, it never asked for the key I was told to give, so I just started playing. The same thing happens everytime I try to launch the game and it never asks for the key in-game.

This is what Steam tells me when launching the game:

This is your activation key for Europa Universalis IV. You will need to enter this key after the application has launched. Write the key down or press 'Copy to clipboard' button now.

Is it me just misunderstanding what to do, or?

Also, I wonder if this is linked to Steam not unlocking the achieves that I should have unlocked in the game.

Any help would be appreciated. Love the game so far, but that activation key-thing is bugging me out.

1) like the guy with the strange name above me said there is a button to not show this massage again. You don't need the key to play if your game is already registered on steam. If you need your key again, you can rightclick the game in your library --->show game key

2) If you want to have access to the paradox support forums (technical problems, strategies, mods....) you have to enter your key in your paradox forum account. That's the only thing where the key is needed again.
