sadly, no it won't. You can neither edit existing countries nor create one with the exact name of an existing one, even if you replace it entirely.
Actually, you can still prepare for formable countries that way. You can't re-create Byzantium for the special events, but you can put yourself in a situation to form the roman empire at day1 and then get all the specific events.
Exemples include Spain, Great Britain, France (which can be recreated when it doesn't exist), Russia, Malacca, Japan (by creating a daimo), Scandinavia and much more.
Back in 1.8 or 1.9 I gave england prussian ideas for giggles. Accidentally ended up doubling the discipline bonus for brandenburg somehow and BB wiped out france with a doomstack due to its +15% discipline.
