Add editing to existing nations?

Am I the only one that would love to have the option to edit an existing nation under the flag and name you love? Just to be able to change their ideas is all I ask.

sadly, no it won't. You can neither edit existing countries nor create one with the exact name of an existing one, even if you replace it entirely.

Yea that's what I mean. Also with certain countries such as Venice or Byzantium you get unique events. So instead of creating a new country with a similar name it would be nice to edit the pre existing one.

Actually, you can still prepare for formable countries that way. You can't re-create Byzantium for the special events, but you can put yourself in a situation to form the roman empire at day1 and then get all the specific events.
Exemples include Spain, Great Britain, France (which can be recreated when it doesn't exist), Russia, Malacca, Japan (by creating a daimo), Scandinavia and much more.

Yea but some countries depending on how you play will have a lot of throw away ideas, I usually find useless. Just a food for thought if Paradox could add the option to edit an already existing nation. It is a bit of a pain when there are editing mods that add flags and all and the author does not update them. Just a way to get around some mods as well. You also never get all the existing events that would happen under the orginal country i.e renaming provinces, restablishing what ever the name. Also I never re form the orginal Roman Empire, Byzantium is the land of my people!

Yes, you can; but I work on files and computers all day I really dont wanna do it at home too lol. This is just me being lazy and giving out an idea for paradox.

Just edit the country ideas in common folder, steam/steamapps/common/europa universalis 4/common/ideas/country_ideas.txt

Back in 1.8 or 1.9 I gave england prussian ideas for giggles. Accidentally ended up doubling the discipline bonus for brandenburg somehow and BB wiped out france with a doomstack due to its +15% discipline.
