Austria Restoration of the Union (Hungary) CB
Howdy,

Just a general game playing with the new features from DLC + Patch. It appears like I no longer get the Restoration CB against Hungary even when the Hapsburg ruler dies and is replaced with Matyas heir around 1455 and it never showed up.

What would cause this? Perhaps you can not get the CB if you are allied to them?

I see if you play another nation that AI Austria almost automatically gets the PU over Hungary before 1460, is this a bug?

I don't recall ever getting a CB over Matyas. What you may be thinking of is the "Decline of Hungary" mission. This mission gives you the Restoration of Union CB on Hungary.

The requirements for this mission to show up are:
Austria is not a subject nation.
Year is at least 1500.
Hungary:
Is not a subject nation.
Is not the Holy Roman Emperor.
Is a neighbour of Austria.
Does not have more provinces than Austria.

However, the Hungarian AI sometimes chooses to take a Hapsburg immediately instead of having Janos as a regent. This puts them under a PU with Austria as well, but I've never had it happen when Im Austria.

So from my understanding the choice of Matyas over the Hapsburg line should give you a Restoration of the Union CB if your currently lineage is Habsburg. EG Bohemia has Habsburg or Austria has a Habsburg then you get the Restoration of the Union CB after that event.

At least I believe that is how it is supposed to happen to get the early PU.

Them simply having Hapsburg on their their throne doesn't give you a PU over them, so them losing said Hapsburg doesn't give you the CB.

You can however claim both nations thrones early on when they have a Hapsburg and no heir, this is a way to get a PU over Bohemia especially early on.

You can also get a mission Restoration CB on Bohemia, the mission is called "Bohemia must accept Austrian overlordship"
