Spacebar and Escape not working
I loaded my saved game and spacebar does not pause or un-pause the game and escape does not open the menu.

EDIT: Basically the game does not respond to any keyboard input.

neither does mine. I cant play this game without spacebar. I have to move the mouse all the way to the edge of the screen everytime i have to pause/unpause it

Not sure if your described situation is identic to mine, but try to back to desktop for a couple of seconds and then play again (don't shut down the game, just minimize). It worked well to me.

Restarting the game worked for me, didn't have issues since then.
