Colonisation subsidies help

I literally just found out giving subsidies to your colonizes makes them expand much faster, kinda feel dumb for not thinking of it sooner. So does anyone know of a good amount to fund them mostly for just turned colonial state? All I know is the Caribbean takes a lot more money for some reason even though it's so wealthy.

If I remember correctly the optimal subsidy is like 3-5 ducats, because that covers the cost of a colonist. Colonial nations are afraid to go into debt so are often hesitant to spend money.

4 ducats is usually ok, you can always give more if they don't start, you can also revoke the subsidies as soon as they have started the colony. Carribbean is a little annoying, as colonial nations only colonize adjacent territory and the carribbean is full of islands. If you colonize one provence for them on the 2 big islands, and the island chain they should finish those areas off, whilst you will need to colonize the other islands
