Ultimate Bundle: buy now or wait till Christmas?
I’m interested in buying the Ultimate Bundle, but am debating holding off until the Christmas sale. Is this the deepest discount they’ve had for it? I’m skeptical they would match it again if it is.

I'd say buy now. It is unlikely you'll get a better discount before long.

this is the cheapest it has ever been

Nah there whas once 2021 and again 2023 a Humble Bundle containing everything for 19€. But yeah I doubt that it will anytime soon get every this cheap.

... there is also a now common misconception that the 'Steam Christmas Sale' has the highest discounts.

Not anymore.

Many publishers surely drop prices, but not as low as they did in the past - or, during special sales around the year. This type of sale right now, is the lowest they will go ... until the next Humble Bundle. Unless the next Inflation hits that too.

Yeah snagging that bundle back in the day made you very lucky ;p

Currently we (PDX) have no future plans to run another bundle with humble bundle for EUIV. Obviously plans have potential to change and be formed in the distant future. But at least for the near future I can say right now is likely going to be one of the best times to get in.

Ah may we ask why? And why the big price reduction is only on Steam and not also on GoG and Epic?

The 2020 bundle was a limited time offer, back then they wrote that developing new content was complicated because of the many versions of the game that was in use because people didn't own the same DLCs. That concern isn't really relevant any longer since they've probably already released the last DLC for EU4. Giving the three DLCs away might be to simplify game support while they develop EU5 (sorry, "Project Caesar").

The March 2022 bundle was a charity bundle to raise money for something humanitarian in Ukraine which had just been invaded. So that was unique circumstances.

As far as I know, GOG doesn't have its discounts at the same time as Steam. For any games.
My guess is that GOG wouldn't be able to compete if they did because they're slightly more expensive than Steam (but you can download the setup files and then never need any kind of internet connection to install your game, so that's a very interesting place to buy games).
So you might have that kind of discount later on GOG, or not considering the reviews there.

The answer to both is just complicated marketing reasons :) I don't even have the exact details myself.

Is it worth touching at all when EU5 is effectively right on the horizon? I'd rather just wait until then tbf.

Well you have no idea how good EUV will be at the start and you will also have to pay 40€ in DLCs per year for it or wait even longer so why not try to get used to EUIV for only one 44€ payment if this is sufficient for the time.

Now that the sale is over, could you maybe say if there are plans to also do this sale on GoG and Epic Games too?
